Evans has made a new fan out of me. World Champion stripes really make a difference. Or the change of scenery. Whatever it is, chapeau!

Basso is cooked. Nibali is hanging back for him.
.....and fanboys wonder why we think the Giro is in a different league to the Tour.:D

I'm so glad we've got July to distract them. This is best savoured in silence.

Vino is really digging deep today, I wonder how much he will have left in the tank tomorrow.

I'd say a combination of winning the worlds and a different training programme from Sassi (according to Sassi himself).

Either way it's nice to see.

Who's the Caisse guy?

Vino attacks, didn;t think he had it, he is a gutsy rider. Evans covers easily.

What a different race it could have been though if first group slowed up more (no self serving attacks), second group closed in and therfore wasn;t going as hard, maybe Nibali would haver had a better chance (and mroe importantly felt he had a better chance) at catching lead group???

I'm disgusted by Nibali having to sacrifice his GC chances to shepherd Basso to the finish line.
