I'm disgusted by Nibali having to sacrifice his GC chances to shepherd Basso to the finish line.

Basso crashed. Nibali isn't in top form. He's likely to blow up completely later in the Giro.

Nibali was in that same crash. But it's team tactics, so I can't be too surprised.

Yes, but did you see them? Nibali just went off the road standing up. Basso fell sideways with absolutely no chance of parrying the impact with any part of his body. His entire side hit the ground at once.

Basso was certainly flattened by the crash. Others were all getting back on their bikes before he lifted his head off the ground. Still many days left, maybe a rest day will see him back, so Nibali hopes he can recover and not regret his support role today.

Here's the deal

1) vino gets pink
2) Evans a team mate (arroyo)
3) Arroyo the win

Cunego coming back. He's always excellent on these classic type courses

PINOTTI'S THERE!

And Cunego just got himself a stage win.

Plenty of $hite mountain roads in Spain, though of course the rains fall mainly on the plain:p
