Who claimed it was a total loss for them?
They did very well, they have plenty of guys that can bring them success in a race besides Wiggins.

Sadly-in the eyes of Brailsford is barely a result....
I remember last year when Uran & Henao got top 10 & when asked about it, he was actually disappointed because Cavendish had lost the Maglia Rossa....

Just another reason why Uran is ready to depart-then Henao will follow...

Just in case any Chicken Littles were riding around screaming "THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING"! (pun completely unintended)

I'd say it was a great success. They got the best result that was ever going to be possible for them at this Giro.

Hugely disappointing. Consider the massive advantage warming down gives them.

Team Prize = Utter failure and humiliation

I heard Brailsford is so disappointed that he is confiscating one of Uran's Urans until further notice. Harsh but fair fair from Dave Brailsford Uran.

I have it on good authority from someone high up in Radio Shack that the team prize is the most prestigious award in cycling.

Nah, Sky did worse than expected, but still came out with a fine result. Movistar on the other hand... Maybe Ventoso can do something tomorrow though.

They will win the team competition, after all!

A total loss:eek:. Come on this is the best possible result they could have had. If we remove Wiggins descending losses upto the TT Nibali was very close to Wiggins. The way the mountains were and with the atrocious weather, Nibali would have gained enough to win. 2nd in the Giro, two wins and the team prize is extremely good. It used to be good for Andy Schleck as well as Ullrich, Pantani, and their teams

I doubt Wiggo could have done better than Uran, at least in terms of the final GC position. Nibali stepped it up to another level.

You are aware that Movistar has won 4 stages, right?

Ofc winning the team competition is very important for SKY. Remember Bruyneel is Brailsford's idol.
Uran's 2nd place is meaningless for them though. He's not British and his points will go to OPQS next year.

A team like Sky shouldn't really care about anything outside a top 5. The Maglia Rossa however, is a main prize, and Cav really wanted the Grand Slam of points competitions.(+ British performances attract way more publicity)

Lol, yeah, increased attention to British riders' success in the british team is a big sin too.

Not a bad Giro although they did go out to win the race. 2nd in GC and 2 stage wins is more than some teams have managed.

They will make up for it in the Tour anyway (which as we know is the race Sky really care about) :D

They would have to be happy with Uran's performance especially when Wiggo dropped out. Sky would be unhappy about Uran leaving, though I suppose but when you start making the podium you would want to be a team leader so can understand Uran wanting to go.

the points is a non issue. Will it make a difference to either team being WT?
