Who would have thought this being such a crazy stage in the end?

Every giro stage is crazy. Even the flat stages.

Contador's shoulder, now this.

A big  at the sprinters' team. They knew they weren't going to catch the break yet kept drilling at the front. I very much doutbt they didn't know about Porte.

edit: wasn't it a mechanical for Porte?

Hats off to the breakaway!

Richie will ride the tt just to make up what he's already lost.

The sprinters went very close in the end. I doubt that Greipel's team could care something about Porte. Same for Lampre.

3 very sad and one very very happy Italians in Forli. Very emotional finale. I counted Porte in 43" behind Nizzolo.

Sucks for Porte. Don't like to see anyone lose time like that.

Edit: Assuming it was a mechanical.

46. It's the time for the lead guy in the group, not for Richie
And a gap ahead of Contador may be given

The peloton came in ~15 seconds down, so about half a minute for Porte.

Don't forget that teams like Trek has nothing else to do than secure the points jersey (For Nizzolo) in this Giro. They had an incentive to make a leadout for him. Bad luck for Porte but you cannot blame the peloton for keeping the pace high. Atleast it wasn't Astana or Tinkoff-Saxo that went on the front
