De Lie shouldve never tried to follow that group. Lotto had 2 guys in it. Let them go and keep your spring from behind. He was insanely strong, but he should stop thinking his sprint isn't his best asset.

Congrats to Matthews. I kinda expected that he would beat Pogacar for the second time this year. It almost seemed like Pog and his companions were surprised that they were suddenly surrounded by fast guys at the end.

That’s the aftermath. You never know if you don’t try when you think you can. He probably thought it was the winning move with Pogi. I like it that he tries and find out.

It seemed like De Lie got surprised by the race happening around him at the end, by the time he realised it was already over, might've been legs too but he did get 13th at the end so didn't seem completely done.

De Lie actually managed to go from a 1v1 sprint vs Pogacar to getting boxed in

It's not like Lotto could have done much else is it? They drilled it but it's a long stretch up to the finish and all three of them had spent a big bullet just before.

Anybody here is from Bratislava and knows best way to get there from Vienn airport?
Surely the train goes directly.

EDIT: Okay, it's a short stop in to Vienna and then change train to one that goes to Bratislava. Is there no app you can use?

Actually you do. If you have 3 guys in a group of 5 obviously you're gonna need to do the work. It's not as good as a situation as it looks. It's super risky. He doesn't need to try and find out when you have teammates who are good enough to follow. They completely burried Van Gils and Berckmoes (how strong as he become jeez) for someone who was already dead. It's a waste of an opportunity for both De Lie and especially the other 2.

Pogačar will win both races in record time, by at least half an hour, with Ben Healy a distant second.

Lol.

If anything I think his pure exposivity has always been overrated. Like fresh 1 minute Caubert style hill, especially out of the saddle, he doesn't drop sprinters that easily.

De Lie also has one of the biggest anaerobic bullets in the sport, so it's not like it was an easy task to drop him there, it wasn't Jakobsen in his wheel.

De Lie should've not blew himself up on the hills trying to follow when there's top teammates there anyways. I don't blame him, hard to not follow when you see it happening, he's a racer after all, but it wasn't the best choice. But after that yeah they couldn't have done anything else. "Lotto fail" is definitely just BS.
