Nice win for Vanbilsen. He looked like a big talent in 2012, when he win the u23 Ronde and generally put in a lot of promising but low key performances. Then he moved from An Post to Topsport and seemed to disappear.

Nominally that's a step up from Conti to Pro Conti, but they ride many of the same kind of races by and large and the difference in quality between a strong Conti team and one of the weaker Pro Conti outfits isn't very much, so it really shouldn't have involved that much of a period of adjustment. It's not like going from the Continental ranks to the World Tour or even to IAM or Net App. I wonder if he had injuries, or if he was assigned pure domestique roles, or what the explanation was? Anyway, this is a great start to his season, and hopefully he can progress further.
