I am looking for some advice on groin strains and seat position. It seems when I scoot up on the saddle the pain is lessened. Any thoughts?

It's difficult to say not knowing anything about you physically. What I would do is go to your bike shop (preferably where you got the bike if possible) and get a proper fit (mention the problem as well). If that is not an option, start with your saddle level (actually use a level to make sure), and tilt the nose downward a little. This places most of your weight on the sit bones and less on the perineum. Just kinda play with it a little (the saddle :p) until it feels comfortable. Go for a ride, if you still feel pain, it may not be the right saddle for you, and I'd look at getting a new one. I like Fizik, personally, and they do an excellent job on their website explaining what saddle supports what.

You're referring to a groin strain/pull as opposed to perineum pain correct?

I have advice for the latter, but my only suggestion for the former would be to get some physio.

Arthritis?

Regarding strains, I usually just take it easy for a week or two, twiddling or even trying some other form of exercise, and getting some massage. If that doesn't fix it, I see a doctor.

Thanks ; I am soon to be 49 so arthritis is a maybe. I appreciate the input, I did some hip flexor stretches last night and the sore side was much tighter so that was great advice. Will be checking with my bike fit guy today.

I actually have a flexibility rope to help with all sorts of stretches. I do these daily whether I riding or not. They allow for a deeper stretch. Not sure if it will help your situation, just thought I'd mention it. Good luck.

I had a another bike fit done today and my seat was relatively low. Hoping that helps.

Thanks for all the advice.
