Dumoulin rides without power meter in races
Is that true? His ability to pace himself must be outstanding then.
He said so after Blockhaus. Says he likes to race more on feeling and doesn't like riding on power meter in races.
I dont know how much of it is true...but the Pros know the power they are putting out just by feel.
I dont think the pros need a powermeter necessarily to tell them about power.
The HB is actually a more important parameter since it tells them how far in the red they are.

Dumoulin

Landa
Zakarin
Mollema
Majka

But this is in 1/3 of the GT season

Why even consider Froome, Chaves, Porte, Contador, Bardet?
And if you do, putting the Major above Froome is bonkers. :)

Fun idea for a subject.

Froome - easy
Quintana - not easy, but his record is strong
TD - could argue he should be ahead of NQ
Nibs - easily forth
Porte - all based on form
Valverde - mostly based on form
I think these 6 are way ahead of the rest.
Contador - form has been slipping
Bardet
Tibo pino
Chavez

Because this comes partly as a prediction ;P)
Tom is already GT winner and his chances to win two GT are bigger than Froomeys, IMO.
In other words, this is his year.
P.S. Assume he will participate in Vuelta - because why not?

Like I said, Dumoulin rides almost purely on feeling. He also doesn't like following a 'forced' pace. So when he feels he'll be in trouble of following, he lets go.

That's why he often drops so 'early' compared to others. He feels forced to follow a pace that is too high for his feeling.

1. Froome - really no doubt about this
2. Quintana - two wins and consistently on the podium
3. Contador - looks past it but has still won a couple in recent years
4. Dumoulin - TT strength of a classic GT rider, but poor team
5. Porte - he can both TT and climb with the best, which is what you need
6. Nibali - been there, done that, bought the T-shirt
7. Bardet - surely he can fix his TT and become a proper challenger
8. Aru - He has actually won one
9. Valverde - so he's a had a great spring. He always does. Unlikely to suddenly challenge after a career of not really doing so.
10. Chaves/Yates/Yates - as a trio together they could be all sorts of trouble

If all races count, tie between Froome and Valverde.

In terms of GC:
1. Froome
2. Quintana
3. Porte
4. Dumoulin
5. Valverde
6. Contador
7. Chaves
8. Aru
9. Nibali
10. Pinot
11. Bardet
12/13. Yates bros
14. Ion I
15. Zakarin

I'd agree that Froome, Quintana and Dumoulin are, at the moment, top 3.
But, I'm not sure how the ranking should look alike below them.

If Contador wins a GT this year he should be considered for one of the top 3.
