In the giro purito crashes out granting quintana a free win.

In the tour Contador and Froome crashes out granting nibali the right to ride at 50% and still crushing some random french riders.

In the vuelta now quintana gives up in the vuelta granting Contador a free win? Or am i speaking too early.

I'm a contador fan but winning this way ain't the same, unlike some nibali fans i can admit that ;)

Just bitter because Contador can only win the worst GT.

So we can start the hypothetical questions again.

1. What if Quintana hadn't crashed of the of the Vuelta?
2. What if Nibali had crashed out of the Tour and was now in the Vuelta?
3. What if Betancur was twenty pounds lighter?

If we're gonna talk "cursed GTs", what about the defending champions inability to defend their titles both this year and last year:

2013:

Hesjedal crashes out of the Giro/leaves due to illness.
Wiggins doesn't get to start the Tour, partly due to illness, partly so he wouldn't compete against Froome
Contador elects not to try and defend his Vuelta title

2014:

Nibali elects not to defend his Giro title
Froome crashes out
Horner doesn't get to start because of the cortisol case

So, in both years one elected for himself not to try and defend the title, one didn't even make it to the start, and one was forced to leave before the race was over.
Cursed? Naah, just some damn bad luck.
