Does he have a "Van" in his name? No (although a friend of mine did once nickname his work van by the English version of this guy's name) and etymologically I believe there are the remnants of a 'van'.

Maarten Wynants is correct: according to PCS, the highest lifetime points total among current riders with no win to his name.

My mate Tim referred to Martin = mah tin = my tin can = van in his own variant on rhyming slang.
and I guess that 'Wyn'/'Van' are related, yes?
