It's complicated.

He's had hormonal issues, chiefly an absurdly low testosterone level that affected his performance. He's also been trained by Vayer and hid the fact, even though Madiot specifically told him not to do that.

He was given a last chance for 2016 as long as he agreed to not work with Vayer anymore...then when he turned in his training files from pre-season it was clear he wasn't following the plan the team had given him, but some other clearly not improvised plan....so, Vayer again. In July Bernard Sainz ("Dr. Mabuse") was caught in a sting operation telling riders how to use EPO and other stuff. One of the decoy riders in the sting was Lecuisinier with help from Vayer. FDJ fired him on the spot.
