GuessTheRider.com – A Cycling Guessing Game

Hello everyone,

being a cycling enthusiast, I've always wondered if there was such a thing as an “lde” style site where the aim is to find a game, a word, or in this case professional cyclists with clues. I never found one, so I decided to code one myself: https://guesstherider.com/

The aim is to find the pro cyclist in as few tries as possible, with clues unlocked as you go along. There are several game modes (see logo menu top left): Top100 UCI men, Top300, Top100 women and a Top100 legend.

I've also implemented a “ranked” mode with one rider per day to guess, a points and ranking system. For the latter, you'll need to register to access the archives and rankings.

If you have any suggestions, criticisms or bugs, I'd love to hear from you. Thank you

Hello,
I didn't know the “Guess Who - Game”, I'm more of a Professional Road Racing reader.

@RedheadDane
In FFA mode (for fun), you unlock clues according to the attempts you make (instant unlocked for results, 3 for team history, and 10 for the photo).

and in ranked mode, you can unlock everything from the start, but it “costs” you points.

Your clues are stats which can easily be looked up. Of course we google in this thread too.

Yeah, I hadn't figured out the system of the coloured backgrounds in the section showing the riders you've already guess.
Well, I haven't completely...

Green background means the information is also true for the rider you're trying to guess.
What does grey and yellow mean?

You have a question mark menu (?) that explains the colors, but to summarize:
For ranking, age, weight, height, if it's yellow, it means respectively that the rider you're looking for is at +-5 ranking position, +- 2 in age, +- 3kg and +-3 cm.

For rider type, it means that one of the two types is correct (e.g.: we're looking for a GC Classic rider, if the rider we've entered is GC TT, then it will be yellow).
If it's gray, it means it's too far away for these attributes.

Cool!
Just a suggestion - if possible to change the coding now - maybe another idea could be that if the background for country is yellow, then the person we're looking for is from a neighbouring country...

BTW, I think I've noticed a slight linguistic error:
In the Top 100 Legend gameplay, there's an info section called "Surname", I think that should be "Nickname" (Of course, that's gonna be either green - because you've guessed the person - or grey)

Ah, the country thing is a cool idea, I'll try to implement it, thank you.
And thank you for the linguistic error!

Update:When the country of the rider we need to find shares a border with the country of the rider we choose to input, it appears in yellow.

I've also separated the rider type into 2: Type 1 and Type 2, which corresponds to the most points won in races with the corresponding profiles (GC, TT, Sprint, Puncher, Climber). When type 1 is yellow, it means it's the right type for type 2 and vice versa.
