unless you redefine "implosion" to mean that there were 15 seconds out of the last 5 minutes where the columbia train was not totally in control.

Milram did sneak in there for a little while. If I were Stapleton I'd pull the team out and go home in disgrace.

methinks there are too many conspiricy theories floating around in people's minds. The GH "tipping-off" LA about the split comes to mind.

Oh dear..... oh dear....... Cav out of green.... this is like watching a slow motion car accident.... if only all the stages could be flat and with sidewinds.... its all gone wrong.

oh dear oh dear CAV wins again, Cav back in Green, Martin STILL in white,
Columbia TWICE as many stage wins as any other team,
Its all gone wrong for poor whiteboytrash, his flat theory out the window

"Stage 11's uphill finish in Saint-Fargeau... was expected to suit overnight points leader Thor Hushovd (Cervélo TestTeam) and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Slipstream) far more than Cavendish."
And yet not only did CAV out sprint Thor he out powered him, Thor faded from 2nd to 5th while CAV pulled away from Farrar as well.

Did you see Martin in the leadout train, skinny little arms pushing the Milram riders out of the way?
anyway i think that is 16 jerseys for COL-HTC vs 0 for Astana
imploded
:p

Thor said he came in with the wrong gear ratio because he thought it would be less steep. He simply couldn't turn over the gear.

Anyway, great riding by Cav and the HTC train. Congrats to the Manx missile.

That makes more sense
I was shocked to see CAV won, but even more stunned to see Thor going backwards, but now i understand.
thanks

What I find interesting is how tuned in the riders are to what is going on around them, even sprinting at 70 kmh at the end of a 200 km stage. Cavendish commented in his immediate post-race interview that Thor was under-geared. May be I shouldn't be surprised, they're the professionals afterall, but still quite amazing that he can pick up on that in the heat of a sprint battle.

They've won 33% of the stages so far and still have the green jersey. I think saying that it's all gone wrong for Columbia is a bit of an overstatement.

Today's stage is just not a good stage for Cavendish in this point in his career. Maybe he'll developing some climbing skills/form eventually, but he's kind of a one-trick pony right now.

1-trick pony?? is that kind of like saying that Michael Jordan was a 1-trick pony?

Or Muhammed Ali, Or Carl Lewis, or Don Bradman

i guess it might be, but from where I look- 10 wins in 1 & 1/2 tours its not a bad trick and not a bad pony

Bump. Talk amongst yourselves.

The whole team might be drinking "Kool-Aid" with dinner tonight! What a horrible day for the team and it couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch (except, maybe, Astana) as far as I am concerned! :D

A horrible day to be sure, but in the context of what they have done in this tour still pretty successful & no time to pull out the kool aid.
More stage wins than anyone else, more jerseys total(probably over 20 at this point i lost count)
one rider second on GC 5 seconds out, another 1 minutes out
and still holding the white jersey and a good chance to take the finale in Paris since they still have the faster sprinter.
a pretty good tour for sure

And yet they're still complaining tonight?

Seems to me they should be happy with the tour instead of *****ing about other teams tactics

Cav hanging onto green by the skin of his teeth and now losing stages LRC, Rogers down and out by 13 minutes, Hincapie tipping off selected riders from other teams of dodgy attacks, Cav mouthing off at his opponents/behaving in a completely arrogant manner when winning and finally the rest of the peloton refusing to help them in any way… its all gone wrong for Columbia.

It appears they forgot the rule of keeping friends in the peloton as you might need them one day. Scoolboy antics may cost them a shot at green or any jersey.

The Tour is 3 weeks long and you can't afford to make enemies in the first week. They have a lot to learn.

Discuss.

You called it WBT

Oh please you can't be serious, dim tactics right...

20 jerseys so far(Astana 0, Garmin 0)
4 stages(twice as many as any other team,(Astana 1, Garmin 0)
currently
1st in white jersey competition(Garmin 31st Astana n/a)
2nd in green jersey competition(Garmin 5th, Astana 14th)
2nd in yellow jersey competition(Astana 3rd, Garmin 6th)
3rd in Team competition(Astana 5th, Garmin 6th)

Gosh if only they had the expert tactics of JB & JV those guys are geniuses

i see on Mark Renshaw's twitter than George Hincape is his new room mate, no longer Cavendish..

wonder if he's gone home?

You mean back to the Isle of Mann with his tail between his legs?
wait Manx pu$$ys don't have tails so he must still be at the tour.
