Not really cycling gear per se, but I like some music when riding on my own.

Since my Senheiser PMX 60 recently played their last song, I'm looking for something new. But it turns out it's not that easy finding something suitable for long bike rides.

My requirements:
-Good comfort (shouldn't hurt after 2 hours)
-Suitable with bike helmets
-No loud wind noise
-Letting through ambient noise (safety!)
-Somewhat rain/sweat resistant

I'm currently thinking of purchasing the Senheiser MM 100 (bluetooth/behind neck/on ear), but maybe some of you have better suggestions or experience?

I actually like my apple buds. Don't know about the wet resistance but have been using them trouble free since the new shape was released. I don't use plug type because they cut out the traffic noise and most High Quality sets plug your ears.

I have some Klipsch headphones that are great and good value too, not sure the model.
Dont really use them on the bike but the sound quality is good.

To possibly hijack this thread and take it a little further away from cycling gear, I am looking for some recommendations for budget friendly noise cancelling headphones to use on the treadmill.

I like Monster iSport In-Ear headphones. IMO they fit all of your requirements and they aren't to expensive.

But I never had good experiences with in ear headphones before, in that they always start hurting after an hour or so... (Truth be told, I didn't try any since at least 3 years, so progress might have been made)

These are actually what I personally would call "partial" in ear headphones. If you look at the pics, you'll see a little rubber piece sticking out. That piece sticks to part of your earlobe and so the actual earpiece doesn't go as far into the ear as other "in ear" headphones. Sorry if that doesn't make sense (ain't good at explaining things ) Surely youtube has a review showing how they work.

My point being, that for me personally, they aren't as uncomfortable as other in ears I have tried before.

I find that any headphones that cover the outer ear cut the most wind noise while allowing me to still hear other stuff, coz there's no bud stuffed in the ear canal.

I have used the Bose in ear ones for years. They were always good but a while ago they changed the rubbery outer bit so they are now even more secure. I have found them very comfortable and forget I've got them in even when cycling for hours. They have survived all sorts of weather.

I have tried various other headphones but none have been as comfortable. I'm also happy with the sound quality.

They are expensive though. Got my first pair many years ago when they were on a deal when I bought something even more expensive. Those ones eventually died but had to get the equivalent ones to replace as I loved them so much and couldn't find anything else I liked as much.

I dont ride my bike or motorbike with headphones. I listen to what is going on around me as part of keeping myself alive from the cage drivers who can be doing everything in their cages apart from concentrating on actually driving the f**king things!!!!

Yeah - I think it's a really bad idea to wear earphones on open roads. I can usually hear when a car is gonna be trouble/ dangerous well before I can see it.

Certainly good advice but I like the music. Riding downtown is a little too crazy for music. When I do I usually set the volume low enough to carry a conversation. I actually hate the music when I am Mountain biking. I really want to hear everything in the woods. I Always had music in my motorcycle helmet but never used ear plugs either. Again, setting the volume low. I do like to hear the cars too.

If you have the right type of earphones and if you have it at the right volume you can still be safe out in traffic.

There was a brand of headphones a few years back that were specifically for sport - they hooked over the top of your ear and rested against the Tragus (the little bump/ridge in front of the ear canal). Thereby not blocking or entering the ear itself, but vibrated against the tragus.
Meant to be absolutely brilliant, but I've never seen them since...
Google will no doubtably be you're friend if finding them, perhaps

I wrote headphones, but equally i mean earphones or 'in ear music'. I like to be aware of the world around me as i am out in it, whether urban, countryside, mountains or the forest. I want to be aware of other road users but also want to experience the real world noises around me, which can be bothersome as much as joyous.

I'm with Benotti on this (I seem to be thinking this more and more recently, oh dear!!). As few distractions as possible. I won't ride with anyone who's listening to music, It think it's a pretty silly thing to do really.

Have you tried Yurbuds. Great sound, stay in the ears, no discomfort.
