helmets: too tight, thin, and unsafe?

As explained at http://www.bhsi.org/limits.htm 12/14mph is the vertical speed of impact & not the forward speed. In comparison, motorcycle helmets are tested at 17mph (but do have a thicker shell to withstand more friction with the road at the higher forward speeds they experience).

Unless testing standards are made tougher, no helmets will provide more protection, as it could imply that the others were not suitable/negligent.

Don't copy some members of the pro peloton who seem to have a competition going as to having the loosest helmet strap!
