For once I must congratulate you on an interesting post... Interesting indeed. What's also funny is that after the ceremony the rider comes down and signs about 4 or 5 other jerseys before heading to the interview. Don't know exactly what happens to those, maybe they are auctioned off for charity

VIPs, team sponsors, personal sponsors. For example, if they're paying Alberto $1.5m a year or whatever, I reckon Specialized might like a shiny jersey to go in head office.
