Help with trainer compatibility

I have a Trek Lexa from 2016. It is fitted with an 8-speed sunrace cassette and chain. Would it be compatible with the kickr core? I know I need an 8-speed Shimano or SRAM cassette for the trainer but I am unsure as to whether my chain would be okay with it? Sorry for the lack of knowledge, I've not really looked into chains, cassettes etc before now.
