How do you fight Post-Tour-Depression

I like when the Tour is over. Several of my favourite races happen in late July and August - the Clasica San Sebastián is always good for entertainment, then two of my absolute favourite stage races - the Vuelta a Burgos and the Volta a Portugal.

You can have a veritable festival of cycling at this time because due to the timeslots there's minimal crossover between the coverage of Poland, Burgos and Portugal so you can catch all of them (Denmark is also on at the same time but I don't tend to be able to add that to the mix; and it's the least likely of the four to capture my attention). Then in mid August you have the Tour de l'Ain, which finishes with a HC climb up Grand-Colombier, as hard as almost anything in the Tour.

And then of course, there is the Vuelta, which I have high hopes for being the best of the 3 GTs this year.

I train/train/train/race watching others race is nice but just a distraction, definitely wouldn't watch as much cycling as I do if I didn't race.

I have no post-tour depressions. It's different.

For me, first panic-attacks start as soon as stage11 is over.
That means that le Tour is over halftime, and over soon.
It's a slow process and I can usually finish it with drinking myself under table at the Heerlen Criterium (The Manx missile and Andy will be there. Wonder who will win the sprint), and then start preparing for the Eneco Tour, Vuelta always in mind.

Anyway, no doubt that I have a post-season-depression. That's for sure. Those are the really hard months. :(

I got the most depressed after the Vuelta last year. Because then it's 9 months to the next GT! But we do have skiing in winter...

But I share your pain, when the Giro ended both this year and last I was bereft. What to do with my evenings??? I don't get Vs. so it's less painful when TdF ends.

A Giants fan, huh? Ya'll get to play the Padres and the Rockies while we (the Braves) are stuck with the beast that is Philadelphia!

Still, being a baseball fan does help with TdF withdrawal, and it's good that baseball gets a whole month to its own in the US before the behemoth NFL gets back into swing!

also, there's all the transfer chatter. for instance, today, the thought of bradley wiggins being relegated to super lead out for cav brought a smile to my face! :D

for a minute.

(but that is for another thread.)

well, we are playing philly now. we'll see how it goes. there isn't anyone looking forward to playing them in october.

i do enjoy watching sf beat up on the lowly dodgers!:D

i don't have a post-Tour depression since the Tour itself was a depression for me. Although the best in years and I truelly did enjoy the last week of racing, nothing short of brilliant.

But for personal expectations of some riders it was a bitter dissapointment.
So now it's looking forward to the next races where hopefully things go better :p
