How dumb are the folks at Versus/NBC?

because it is commercial free and has no filler. you get way more actual race coverage, averaging twice as much as what the broadcast shows. for instance, today's stage 1 was 6 hours of live coverage. the versus broadcast didn't start until 2 hours in.

You are right about all those points. I sat down to watch this p.m. just to catch the last few k's and remembered why it's so painful to watch , not just because the commentating, but because they show about 2 minutes of racing then go to an ad or some other topic...

If I can I will watch the Eurosport online or Sporza..

even worse-since they have more time to say more stupid commentaries for longer periods of time-I honestly can't bare the idea of listening them for even a bit-not that Harmon is the best to listen to-but he at least is a bit more coherent than Phil & Paul......

I have given up on Versus and switched to Eurosport. Sure they love Wiggins & Sky, but they don't say stupid things.

I watched on Eurosport as well. TSN 2 in Canada has the tour, I don't want the channel. What a breath of fresh air, minimal adverts, pretty good commentry. First time on watching on Eurosport.

Looking forward to tomorrows Time Trial. They didn't mention Sky or Wiggins today much but the team never showed themselves.

One thing I forgot to add, unless you do not have an internet connection or maybe need to delay your viewing until later, I can't imagine why you would pay 29.95 for the NBC /Vs feed?
They continue to show it for no cost all throught the day anyway...

Because you can watch the feed from the start of the stage until all of the podiums are done - without commercials and without all the fluff bits.

I pay for Versus (NBC) for exactly the reasons mentioned above: sometimes I have to leave for work before the stage is over, or can't get up early enough (U.S. Pacific Time); more coverage; no commercials, no fluff . . . and no Bob Roll :); in the evening I can log in and watch the stage again, or watch the TV version (on my PC), or watch the highlight reel; I don't have to find a feed and hope it stays up, or put up with crap data rates. All in all, for $30 it's the cheapest three weeks of entertainment I find all year (other than the Giro, of course :)).

meh, "Americans won't ever compehend" cycling's current crop of fans when they (the fans) continue the still-unique American sports penchant for trash talk, blame, and obsequious histrionics (not to mention backwoods grammar skills)

These comments are ignorant and prejudiced bordering on bigoted.

Bingo...when we were svelte and cycling age, the volume on the tv was always off, and the stereo was playing some trippy music while we all got loaded after the races.

Why all the complaints? Seeing it is better than not seeing it, yes? And I have NO IDEA why you boyls would listen to Versus coverage anyways, after all, YOU boyls ALL seem to know more than anyone else right? Why WOULD you WANT to listen to a commentator? Chumps
I am getting spoiled with versus on TV but with the sound muted, I have Eurosport on the computer screen. Perfect world. During the TTT I did put Versus sound back on for 5 minutes and got myself a new Phil L pearl to add to my collection: "here come the Lotto team, now .. They ... blah blah blah, etc (irrelevant ) but they are going to make top 20"

I didn't pay close attention to the commercials during stage 1 but the commercial today on Versus...has got to be the worst ever.

Visually I wish Road ID put another rider half naked on tv? Also the script sure lends it self to double meaning.

Levi on the massage table covered by a towel for the waist down, waist up bare, turns over to see Bob Roll in a Road ID cycling jersey asking if he wanted to go for a ride...then Bob groans when Levi says no. The next scene is Levi in the shower, Bob opening the shower curtain asking how about now...Levi shirtless.. This is something i really didn't need to see in my life, Levi without his shirt.

Give me a SRAM commercial or even LA on a mountain bike with a beer commercial in the place of the half naked Levi commercial.

Bob Roll's Bigotry

so i woke to watch the vesus coverage, at one point they cut to Bob Roll and he comes off with....
blaming every tour accident on alberto contador , seriously he states that contadors nervousness and inability to position himself in the peleton are causing further nervousness in the entire peleton thus causing all the accidents in the tour. he actually places the blame for all accidents squarely on contadors shoulders .....wow , i can understand being on the armstrong koolaide while he was racing , well at least for roll , but seriously his comments are ridiculous bordering on stupidly enraging

He didn't say that, that's BS. You heard what you wanted to hear. His point was that riders have noticed Contador looks vulnerable, so they're trying to get an edge where they can. Now, how much of that is true, who knows, but he brought a valid point.

He's still battling the fight of two years ago. He has the mindset of a lone Japanese soldier marooned on a small island.

I could have sworn I saw Berto driving the car that hit FLecha:D

I think I saw that too. Bob will blame that on him too. The car was made nervous by AC's vulnerability he was worried about his placement.

You are up your backside dude. That is exactly the intent of his comments.

I am sorry but that has far crossed the borders from sole stupidity to outright insanity. Possibly with a twist of obsession too.

They don´t need mental help as much as exorcism.

Like I said in the stage 9 thread, if he wins the whole thing, Bob will blame the unemployment rate on him.

I'm watching the pre-Tour show and can't believe what came out of Roll's mouth about Contador. blah blah blah "should have been paying attention, bad riding , ....." blah blah blah

Alberto is not one of my favorite riders by any means, but the comments and the way BR was saying them with obvious sneering was a bit over the top ---- he couldn't get enough of his anti-Contador snipes in. Phil & Paul were in agreement of course.

I guess that is Versus and pointless to even comment about it. :(

I saw the same piece and could not believe it. Disgraceful.

Roll must be Chairman of the Versus Anti-Contador Club.

the bad news is it sounds like they put the handcuffs on GOGO. trying to teach him to tell us what he told us journalism 101 bs like they did to andy and Robbie. Free GOGO let him speak his mind and he will drop bobke

Anyone know why they put that frat boy Liam Mchugh in place of Hummer? and Hummer in the field? Maybe his IFC schedule is too full to prepare.

For the most part I think Vs has done better than past years. I just cant tolerate that yes man LIAM MCHUGH. he is is a Box of Rocks
