well, I have another complaint tonight! :)

During the "ask Bobke" one question was if the riders preview the tour course....I was just sitting there cringing and waiting for it....

blah blah Laurent Fignon never previewed blah blah but LANCE ARMSTRONG ALWAYS previewed EVERY DETAIL blah blah blah and from that time it has become the STANDARD....

And by the way I am glad I'm not part of the Michelob ULTRA crowd...:)

I was also cringing...knew it was coming....them BAM..Lance. Why he didn't mention any current riders and their teams who were widely reported in cycling media for doing recon this year. If he wanted to be funny he could have told the story of AC getting stopped by police during recon this year for no lights.

But alas, Lance trumps all with Bob.. Even when he isn't racing...When will LA be a distant memory? Please have that time come soon.

Possibly due the how late JV announced his team make up. Not sure he would have done recon. To Bob Rolls point, using the Lance playbook, how is Garmin doing so well if they haven't done done recon?

Gosh. Someone needed to take poor Tommy D by the hand and wipe his face, give him a neck towel and steer him away from the reporters until he had his equilibrium back.

Amazed that no one from the team seemed to be around him, maybe just out of camera view...

Allright...I know a lot of you out there just heard it yourselves...
Bob---when asked if Mark Cavendish and his aggressive and confident personality reminded him of any other riders past ...WAIT FOR IT........you guessed it---
L**** A********!!!

Isn't it awesome when you see people just be themselves? It's so freaking rare with all these handlers and media-coaching. That's why sites like TMZ are so popular. People love to see them when the mask is totally off. They are just as stupid as the rest of us. If not more so. Loved him saying the 'r' in galibier.

Bob Roll was the cyclist who used to show up to races on his Harley, wearing cowboy boots, and being loud. He has that boisterous, Texas type of personality, and is the polar opposite of a guy like Contador. If he had more class, he would respect Contador's differences and move on.

His obsession with Contador is ludicrous, and would be laughable if it wasn't so slanderous. Bob Roll is a bully in the same way that Armstrong is. Unfortunately, the US is becoming a nation of bullies. Just look at the school system, and the staggering number of students who face it. I believe that it is something like 90%. The sad thing about Bob Roll is that he is very watchable in a lot of ways. He has the kind of energy that captures an audience, and could contribute a lot if he wasn't so fixated on trying to destroy Contador.

There probably isn't too much quality control over at Versus, so nothing will be done. Versus is like Fox News. It will never change, and will always have an audience.

French riders holiday in the US before the Tour so they don't recon climbs either.

I was watching stage 15 of 2010 tour yesterday. Chaingate stage. I choked on my dinner when I heard Bob Roll claim Andy is one of the best bike handlers and a great descender as Andy tried to catch AC, Samu and Menchov on the downhill. I know it was a year ago, but I just had to point it out after today! Can't wait to hear how Bob spins today too!!

He'll probably blame Alberto for attacking Andy when he was weak. How dare he!! :p

And I imagine you'll hear Bob mention the wet roads, A LOT. Alberto was probably wrong to takes risks in Bob's mind.

Sanchez will probably be reprimanded also tonight.

In other words, I'm not watching!

HAHAHAHA!

The Three Stooges are already jumping ship from the Andy Love Boat.
Sherwen couldn't seem to distance himself from Candy fast enough tonight. Way to stick to your guns and hold your line, boys!

Although Liggett offered this gem:

"Andy Schleck is the people’s champion. They don’t like Contador and they don’t know Cadel Evans...they want Andy to win."

Now, if that had been true (because the tide seems to have suddenly turned), why would that have been the public perception? Any media manipulation responsible for that perspective, Phil?

*Beat you to it, mewmewmew! :p *

OMG. Where to begin. They begin their summation of the most interesting stage of actual GC racing of what has been a very dull tour outside of all the horrific crashes and injuries when AC did 99% of the animating by doing what? Congratulating Cadel Evans for his attacks and dispelling the notion that he just follows wheels. The ending footage showed the ending run to the line with AC and Sanchez chasing him and talking about how he dropped them on the descent (which is true, but parenthetically so). He did do a nice job, but my God, the lengths these people will go to NOT give Contador credit for anything, it only makes them look idiotic. Anyone who wasn't blind could see who animated the stage.

My 10 year old was watching with me was rolling on the ground.

unbelievable.

They outdid themselves today on the extended recap. Phil said outright that Contador isn't the peoples champ, and that Schleck is. Bob tRoll of course was wondering why Schleck got dropped on the descent, as he thinks schlecklette is a good descender...Then they continue to go on and on about how Evans attacked the downhill and was the best racer for gaining time on his main competitors. Now I'm not saying that this isn't true, and Evans did an amazing ride into Gap, but they literally ignores Contador's selection on an overrated category 2 climb! Of course Evans gaining 3 or so seconds on the run in meant that he had the ride of the day over the man who fired the shots today! Un-freaking-believable.

Also, where was Gogo?? Some common sense needs to be thrown into that group fast!

Gogo is talking circles of logic around Bob Roll and they are giving him more and more time.

Although bob shot down Gogo's assertion that AC was finding his legs.

roll cant even answer the ask bobke mail in questions well and he has days to prepare

Only Versus at the end of the Alpe stage prime time show do they start the post race conversation about the great ride by Andy for the first segment. Then the upcoming time trial is the second story. Only get to Alberto's ride 3rd story. When Alberto is interviewed and says he only wants to win, the other podium positions aren't important. Bob takes that as he will soft pedal the time trial.

When talking about Andy asking Cadel to help pull, they go to interviews. After the interview played, Liam talks about unwritten rules??? (not sure which rule they imply Cadel broke) Paul comments that Cadel looks less fresh in the interview as Andy. He is putting money on Andy. Phil agrees by saying Cadel is going to be pushed. Bob says he thought Andy needed 3 more seconds to make it a minute over Cadel. Bob did say that he would retire if Andy loses by 3 seconds or less.

Go Cadel! I want Bob to retire!!!

Phil picks Cadel. Paul says Andy has been hiding his time trial form, picks Andy. Bob does the same.

To follow-up on the above...

Bob Troll is just such a transparent, f'ing idiot!

Yes, what about today's epic stage? Ya' know, the one where Alberto Contador lit the fuse for the most exciting stage of the Tour?

Liam: And so as Stage 19 continues to roll on, Bob, what's catching your eye?

Bob Troll (nearly breathless, and without missing a beat):

Well, Andy Schleck has obviously banked his whole season on the Alps. When the route was announced last October, he realized that the stages in the Alps would be decisive. He hasn't really done anything to show us that he's ready for the Tour until yesterday, and he decimated the field and he's carried through with that today. He's found the attack by Alberto Contador on the first climb of the day, and he's been able to match the accelerations of Contador, he's the only man whose been able to do that of the overall contenders.

Yes, no one else anticipated the importance of the Alps. It's all Andy, all the time. And the rider of the day for the first part of the stage? Clearly Andy.

Yes, it's beyond annoying and embarrassing. Bobke is misleading, just about in every comment and it does a disservice to the sport and fans. He's so full of horse manure what happens is that the average fan turns in, listens to him, watches the race, and then walks away confused, thinking cycling is just another weird sport they won't ever get.

I'm now ONLY watching the Vs feed online on the iPad, that's it. I can't stand one second of Bobke, not one. For highlights, commentary, anything, I try to pick up a foreign feed. My Spanish is really bad, but I can understand bits of it, and would much rather listen to that all day long than tRoll.

Makes it real obvious why no one wants to ride with him in those equally annoying Road ID commercials. Amazingly easy to believe no one wants to go near him in real life too (well except Levi). Could it be fiction following fact?

Oh yeah, we're not done with this thread quite yet.

As the iTT was winding down...

Sherwen:
It’s a long march now for these two riders, the Schleck brothers, who’ve been the animators of the Tour, but don’t worry, Phil (as if ), they will be back and they will come back to try and win this race at some time in the future.

Liggett:
To make champions, you have to have great losers and these two are the best on this occasion. :p It could’ve gone either way for Frank and Andy Schleck, and they carried a lot of the support of the world ‘cause Andy is such a personable character as is brother Frank.

:D

I am afraid to find out what signing up for one of these idiotic wristbands and handing over so much personal info and a few dollars atcually ends up costing me. No chance. I have a driver's license. I could write down some other relevant info along with it and put it in my jersey pocket. I could, store the I.C.E. info in my cell.

Who the hell are Road I.D. selling our info to? They are spending enough money on these ads to sell a pretty cheap product for a reason. The profit is not in the wristband.

I ended up doing the same, watch the feed on my iPad. Only watch the rerun TV on stages that the feed got interrupted, as it did when I was commuting to work.

I guess I was a glutton for punishment a couple times I did watch Versus on TV with the sound...only to wish I didn't!! I hope Bob retires now that he was wrong that Andy would win!!!

Can only hope NBC sports cleans house by next year.
