How to make these long boring flat stages less boring?

Just stick a murito at the end of half of them - varying lengths and gradients each time, but nothing too long or taxing. The peloton then can still have their easyish days, except for one effort between say 3 and 10 minutes at the end. Then we get a more exciting finish, with GC action, and where loads of different riders have chances to win. Instead of, well, one rider, as is the case at the moment.

Wouldn't it be something if the last week of the Tour, instead of being in the Alps, was heading north through the Vosges, with Planche des Belles Filles on the Wednesday, Ardennes Thursday, and a stage over the cobbles to Compiegne on Friday or Saturday.

Just finish the thing with a Paris-Roubaix and shun the Champs-Élysées :D

But your idea would be great to see in reality.

They neutralized the stage last year because they were afraid it might produce time gaps.

The last stage is what it is.

Intermediate sprint every 50k, the stage winner is the rider who accumulates the most points.

Final sprint gets a few more points than the intermediates.

GC continues as normal.
