I think if Almeida is not good for podium and AYates is, he could realistically podium if his shape is good

Vingegaard the obvious pick. I don’t see Almeida getting ready, hope Pellizzari grows further like he did all season long, with Landisimo closing the podium

I'm only picking two for now. I will pick my third closer to the start date.

Vingigogaard
Carapaz

Waiting for Almeida to show something

It will naturally depend on whether Storer manages to peak at the right time or not.

I know Landa is targeting the GC, but I would rather see him stage hunt there as well, like he's supposed to do at the Tour. It will increase his chances of getting a victory this year, and by being in breakaways he could end up around the same place in GC he would be getting anyway.

felix gall looks on track to be the second strongest rider uphill

maybe he can convert that to fifth in gc
You're a bit optimistic. All his rivals know well how to get rid of him. A single downhill, a bit long and technical, could be enough to knock him off the top5. I'd like to be wrong. Images of Zakarine and Reichenbach during past giros come back to me.

I'll take those stage routes as "preliminary" knowing the Giro. If Vingegaard is attempting the double, then I'd expect him to ride "defensively" (as Remco would say) at the Giro. Could lead to unexpected problems if Visma try to give up the jersey for a while, or let the breakaways go too far. Visma's domestiques will be busy boys.

Gall I'm afraid will look crazy strong in some long alpine stages then one random day we will look round and think where's Gall and he finishes 8 minutes down.
Feels likely that he will be super for a few days then get dropped on a descent of the 3rd last climb of the day and end up in Narnia.

Would love to see some Derek Gee action at the top of GC but his season so far is very underwhelming.

Pellizzari is shaping up as the only one with the improvement in him to at least make Jonas click through the gears a few times.

Carapaz had a surgery this week. Almeida is off with a unkown illness.
This will be a walk in the park for Vingegaard.
Responding to the OP, Bora to put Pelli and Jay on the podium with Vingegaard.

I've gone for Jonas, Giulio and other. Almeida would be there on Vuelta 2025 form but it's not there and there isn't time to make the necessary improvement.
