No I agree with this, it's bleak regardless. But without Vingegaard I think it might have ended up with a team strong enough to prevent long range attacks, and tiny gaps during mountain stages from 5km MTF finishes.

This way, we will have Vingegaard winning by 10 minutes which might at least create a more open race for 2nd? Maybe? It's a bit dire out there so this might be hopium
gall is a gift that promises changes in the gc battle more often in both directions

the itt also helps differentiate the podium contenders

Could be, but it didn't work out that way with Pogacar in 2024.

I do expect Vingegaard to be iron-fisted throughout the race, but he'll certainly want his share of stage wins.

i could see him only win three stages
Without Pog, Vingegaard has really developed a tendency to chase stages quite aggressively.

The question is if he wants to basically only go for it on the big MTFs or if he'll have team chase down for stages like stage 8 or 9.

1. Vingo
2. Pellizari
3. Arensman
Arensman always has one bad day though. So maybe it's Bernal rather?
Arensman is too tall... for GTs GCs in these years.

Aside from the psychological aspect of such strict dieting, his body already had weird water retention problems during the 2024 Giro.
And he isn't getting any younger.

Imagine having to keep it at 68kg when you are 1.90m because:
but when you weigh over 70 kilos you can't keep up the pace, no matter how much power you put on the pedals
^his words^.
So, in spite of being 1.90, nowadays you cannot reach 70-71-72kg because you'd be cooked.

So do we keep an eye on the Tour de Romandie just in case there's a sudden resurrection of a former Giro d'Italia winner!? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Would just have to stay healthy since he’s gotten sick on both his double attempts.
Agreed. In the Vuelta that didn't cost him but if he's affected even in only 1 mountain stage against Pogacar it's probably minutes and any chance to win the Tour he's losing there

Does Jay Vine have a Kuss Vuelta in him?
Kuss is actually a terrific bike handler so please don't compare these two. Jay Vine should apply his bandages before stage 1 this year, perhaps they will cushion the blow of his inevitable swan dives.

I’m not one to wish ill on anyone, but if Vingegaard can miss his plane or bang his toe doing carpentry then this could be the funniest GC battle of the decade.
Was 2020 not this decade? Rohan Dennis the super dom landing the killing blow on Keldergoat setting up Tao Whoagain Hart for the dub. All three never to be seen on tv again

According to an outlet in Colombia is set to ride the Giro. However they have known to be wrong in the past. LOL.
Probably waiting his results in Romandie.
The plan was for him no race any great CG this year, but he has looked better than last year and Movistar still has a slot empty.
