We've seen this descent in the 2016 and 2021 editions and in the 2017 Giro, and I can't remember a single crash. It's hard enough for a good descender to make the difference but not particularly dangerous.

I refuse to believe this might be decided because they gifted Pog a gap into the descent and now group 2 dynamics are happening. What a terrible anticlimatic development.

Looks exactly like that, what did they expect was going to happen, once Pogacar starts attacking he is relentless and will not stop untill he's gone. No way you grant him a gap. Such a nice climb and such a boring end.

Van der Poel is not a climber. Vingegaard is decent enough, but would absolutely not have been considered a particularly good descender in previous generations.
