Didn't Froome loose points at the WRR for being a p*ssy?

I think the scenario might end up being a lot like the WRR. I think its between Nibali, Valverde and Purito, don't know how seriously Costa is taking this.

I hope this is the last year with this parcours. . . the amount of flat between the climbs completely kills the race and pretty much turns it into a sprint up the last hill
I seem to recall someone telling me (in this forum) that it's possible to put more climbs instead of flat after Madonna. Anyway, one of my personal favourites this will be great. Hoping for a top10 for Rui Costa (I doubt it though) and a win for either Contador, Rodriguez or Nibali.

(I would (try to) ride the full 270km any day, in any sort of weather; damn, Italy is such a great place for bikes!)

Yes it is possible to make a much better route after the colma di sormano that still includes the ghisallo.

Probably a few posters like Esnhar could contribute with some routes themselves as examples :p

Love this race

I actually have a love/hate relationship with it

I love the race because the scenery is breathtaking and usually the racing is surprising and exciting (or used to be until they made a mess of the route in 2011. . .)

I hate it because it means the season is over and we will be 4 more months without any cycling, 5 if you are like me and use Algarve/ Omloop as the proper start of the season

It is beautiful. Was lucky to ride the last 100kms a couples weeks ago. The Muro di Sormano has become a pretty big deal. I saw multiple signs directing to it and they were holding a TT up it in a couple weeks. Doubt they will change the course back. Was surprised how easy the last km's are, could keep the group together

Luckily I like Cross and Football so that will keep me entertained until Het Volk

It is the same route than last year, except by the first kilometers, that are shorter and withot any small climb as last year.

But the problem it is the end part, with so many flat parts and with the ghisallo as a climb more to thougen up the race.

I talked about that last year, they could have similar route, no very different phillosophy, but with an small change, that could change a lot the race:

I have always loved this race in terms of scenery and unpredictability (who has end of season form and is motivated); I had a similar experience last year when I was in Italy and made a total detour from my main trip to do a day around Lake Como. I only climbed the Ghisallo (I'm from the prairies of Canada so that was hard enough for me), but goddamn is it nice there. And has created a feeling in me that is beyond just seeing this race on a TV (read: grainy livefeed on my 13' laptop). Can't wait.

I hope JRod is capable of stricking back after his defeat. First there is Milaan-Turin, so lets see if he's still in for some action.

probably the most sensible option would be to just throw Villa Vergano away. In that case Lecco would be 11 km from the end of Ghisallo's descent, which is a fair distance to me. Also because the Ghisallo is a proper climb, so if a climber attacks he has the chance to hold on alone (ala Nibali 2011, who lasted about that distance) The Muro would be at 64 km to the finish, and maybe it would have some impact more.

Another more challenging option would be to put Sormano and Ghisallo at the very beginning and then climb Valcava and Culmine Di S. Pietro, like on stage 15 of the Giro 2012, and have a descent finish straight into Lecco.
