Thinking about it, this years addition has the potential to be a very good race I think based on the motivations of a few of the prime contenders. Nibali will want to make up for missing the podium at worlds, Purito will want to defend and also make up for just missing getting that rainbow jersey, Uran will want to make up for crashing out of worlds after he had made the final selection, and Costa will want to do the rainbow jersey proud. Plus a number of other guys (Valverde, Quintana, Gilbert, Contador, etc.) will be looking for a strong showing.

Nibali, Purito, and Uran are the guys I'd like to do well the most. Based on what happened with each one at worlds.

Costa was also in the group of people that easily dropped Gilbert on Fiseole so why isn't he even in the favourites list?

On the basis that Fiesole may have been too hard for Gilbert.

I don't think Gilbert will neccesarily beat Costa but it has to be considered that if he has the form he can because he won it twice before and because in 2009 he beat a bunch of guys here (albeit on a different course) who had in turn beaten him in the worlds.

Costa on the other hand I believe will no matter what be worse than Murito and Nibali, on the basis that last week both were stronger and Nibali after a crash at that. An easier course wont suit him over these 2.

Will be interesting to see how weather effects the race. Should be warm and dry. Could mean a larger group in the finale

Is Simon Clarke riding? He could show ok as well judging by his world's form. He also knows the area well from his Pro Conti days in Italy.

Ulissi, Pellizotti, Martin or Visconti could also surprise.

Based on motivation Sagan should be on a list too. In case of some small miracles he can finish season as No. 1 in UCI ranking.
Fiesole showed us he is not in that league yet, but the fact he is going to race means something.

How do you know he's going to race? Besides the article in sme(slovak newspaper portal).

I don't know what is Froome doing here, at least i hope he helps Uran or other team mates that *really* want to win this.

Mikkel Condé v2.0 ‏@mrconde 59m

Purito says he might do Tour of China to win the World Tour ranking for the third year in a row, if he's close to Froome after Lombardia.

How can you not love Purito :D ?

Its a great race parcours but not my fave because of predictability of the result about to come up.

Maybe this time will be better if the out of contract racers decide to spice things up tho.

That's why he is a GOD;)

He didn't won in 2011 btw, Gilbert did.

To bad Sammy Sanchez isn't able to start sunday, the gods are definitely not kind to him :(
