Is Andy Schleck being criticised too much lately?

I've had to read that interview several times just to make absolutely certain that riders can make such dicks of themselves in their own words.

A more obnoxious more up themselves pair of riders it is difficult to imagine...

Their sense of entitlement is more like that of overpaid prima donna footballers

Yup. It is Armstrong-level at these comments. Armstrong, at least, had several GTs to back it up, though.

I have no idea what makes Frank - multiple Luxembourg National Road Race contender - thinks the world surrounds around him.

Contador will smoke him in the mountains as well ^^

I know. And i just cant wait until this day.

As La Pandera posted, there is a glut of material available. I'll have to search through the numerous cycling mags that have either Andy or Andy and Frank as coverboys, and scour the web. No promises, but if I do it, it'll be a labor of love.:D Andy brings so much joy to my cycling life, it's only fair that I return the favor by honoring him by opening a thread devoted to his most eloquent quotes.;)

The Words Of Wisdom Of Andrew Schleck.

Because 'Andrew' sounds much more serious :D

Sadly, most of the people look at the things how they want, not how the things are.

The only thing I want is the forming of the precise team hierarchy for Le Tour by the Devil, in which Frank's ambitions will be swept under the carpet. It will be enough, I can assure you. :)

To be honest- it's a bit strange(and Amusing) to see two Pro's doing this kind of basic skills training at this level, but looking at the overall picture Is good for them-And If they keep failing & complaining afterwards, then we can certainly say they're completely hopeless......

They will have to tackle the incredibly steep Grand Colombier descent at the Tour. If it rains they could lose minutes, IMO.

Oh yeah, the descent maxes out at about 23 percent and has several hairpins. :)

I know that several people have mentioned how it seems that Andy seems to have a sense of entitlement with regards to the tdf. Personally, the more I've seen of him at the tour, and the more I rewatch him, the more I feel like this sense of entitlement shows out on the course on top of his interviews. What I mean by this is that it never seems like he really goes after it on the mountain stages where he should go, especially this year. Whenever he attacked, he would always look back after 2-3 seconds then slow down. It almost seemed like he just expects himself to be so much better that he can put in a small acceleration and everyone will get dropped like a bunch of cat 5'ers, except for frank of course. Of course, I've seen exceptions with him here (Tourmalet, Galibier), but it just seems that he expects to just ride away with ease.

Does anyone else kind of see this, or am I just a wee bit crazy

He thinks he's the best climber in the world. The rider that the majority of the rest of the cycling world recognizes as the best is known to do such a thing so Andy has to think that he can and should be able to also. His victory on Galibier likely fed that belief such that he thinks that no one is near his equal.

Andy IS arguably the best climber in the world. He hasn't shown the opposite. Too bad he's dreadful in any of the other disciplines which are required to be a GT champion.

Only took you 9 minutes to reply after someone felt anyone else is better than Contador at something. Not bad..

You are never better than your last race and Berto was not the best climber in the world then. :)

I think it's pretty hard to put him above a full strength Contador.

The last time they climbed against each other was on the Alpe d'Huez and Contador dropped Andy.

In a Tour (2011) tailor made for him, the only incident that he was able to gain significant time on his opponents in the mountains was on a desperation long distance attack, motivated by the fact that in the prior 2 weeks he was something less that "the best climber in the world" and by his faulty descending skills that lost him important time. I concede that he is likely the runner-up in this contest but he hasn't shown consistently that he can be rated above or even equal to Contador. IMO one needs to display this ability more often than during the month of July.

She could sense a disturbance in the Contador world...someone was attempting to question his greatness and that wrong had to be righted (is that word?).;) I too have that supernatural ability.:D

Its 6 months vs 8 months, last time Schleck has been in form, last time Berto has been in form.

Also Schlecks last race was USPCC I think and he wasnt exactly in form then.

Thomsena said:
That I agree with. But Berto hasn't been 100% in quite some time, has he.

Greipel has also been in better shape more recently than Cavendish, does that make him the better sprinter?
