Woah everyone calm down little overreaction here. ElChingon/others, no need to be so harsh. somethingawe, before snapping back, think about how the post looks like to other people. As many people said, it looks like spam. Would you be happy if someone came onto a forum you frequented and, on their first post, posted up a website? I know that I always get annoyed when this happens, and I know that it's much worse for the guys that post heavily, instead of mostly read the threads like me. Not trying to be mean, just pointing this out.

Unfortunately there were personal injury cases where the shop's insurance ends up paying because they promoted a weekly ride at the shop. So, this is a double-bind.
It would have been better to post the idea, not a link to your blog. Pay no mind to the complainers.

A first time poster putting up a cycling link in in the Cafe sets off a lot of alarms. I sure you had no idea of that. You have gotten some positive response and of course some negative which is pretty normal around here.
This forum would not be able to agree on which direction the sun rises.
Nobody has threatened to fly to your house and beat you up (search forum for jackhammer111). There are several shop owners on here who might be able to provide some constructive input. We also have some savvy software developers
But livestrong ( it's not a real thread here unless lance somehow gets mentioned)

I got tore a new one on my first post.

As Krebs eluted to his first ever post is a new thread with only a link and a few words as if he had been here all along. Sure he probably has been reading and decided to toss his hook in now. Maybe his blog post was derived from our banter on the subject, maybe he came up with it on his own, maybe he paraphrased someone else's lame blog post. All in all, he's not someone who wants to be in the forum, its way to obvious to pluck these forum detractors who want more hits for their google pennies on their blog. If you cannot discern these spammers you need to go read most of the one post posters posts to get some training. Surprised the mods didn't see it.

I was going to provide feedback but then seems the bigger kids have scared him away.

think everyone goes through a bit of a tantrum early on in this place at some point. not usually on first post but at some point.

Nah, despite his claims otherwise do not think the guy cared about the forum. If he did he would have made the effort to put an summary in his post then maybe a link. the fact he could not be bothered to type in suggests he was just dumping it on multiple sites. Also if wanted to interact in forum then could have read the past threads regarding bike shops and peoples opinions of what worked and what did not.

I definitely had a tantrum where i swore i would never come back and tried to figure out how to delete my profile.

It wasn't criticism that I railed against; I can handle criticism. The problem is that many people felt obligated to tell me that I shouldn't link to a personal blog and then on top of that didn't even bother to read it. I can understand being against spamming it, but I posted one god damn link and you go into an uproar.

Thank you to the people who actually read the article and had a comment about that, I appreciate it.

I'm sorry that I put a link up. I don't think its that difficult to click links (especially with the advent of the browser tab 5 years ago), but I could be wrong.

It quite surprising that a cycling community could be so full of ****heads, but I guess I learned otherwise.

I threw a tantrum and got banned for like 6 months when I first started posting. That is how my tantrums roll.
