You do realise it is possible to discredit Kimmage without trying to big up Walsh.

Sure. (EDIT: What Netserk said)

In the Walsh thread, with direct statements about how this gives supposed insight into his relationship with Walsh?

Not so much.

In the clinic, it passes as though Kimmage is above criticism just like LeMond.

Clearly he's not above criticism in the clinic, since...wait for it...he's being criticized in the clinic. Start a Kimmage thread or resurrect one.

Getting blowback about one's critique does not mean someone is "above critism". It simply means there is a rebuttal. Maybe try addressing the critique instead of lobbing these unfounded generalizations?

Groomer added the qualifier "in the last few pages", I did not. So no, I can't show that he claims to be doing this to vindicate Sky based on his statements about Sky of "the last few pages". I have to rely on the reams of pro-Sky posts over the last...months and years I guess. And now the attack on Kimmage for something having nothing to do with Walsh, and the attempt to link it to Walsh. Of course the point was to discredit Kimmage to vindicate Walsh, and of course the point do that is to vindicate Sky. Of course tortured logic like that wasn't openly stated, that's not how shooting the messenger is played.

If you don't buy my view, fine. I can't prove what people will deny or deflect. Simply my opinion.

No, it wasn't the point being made. Check again.

You mean like the generalisations you made about anyone criticising Kimmage is just trying to make Walsh look better, SKY fanboys blah, blah, blah.

Really? I said "anyone criticising Kimmage". No. My comments were about the people in this thread and what they said (in particular) about Kimmage (in this case), and how it was in my view an attempt to shoot the messenger.

You have a critique of Kimmage? Fine. I also said open or resurrect a Kimmage thread.

Stop with the strawmen, please. No one is trying to stop people from criticising Kimmage in general...certainly I'm not. I'm simply addressing particular criticisms which I find to be invalid, off-point and agenda-driven.

French TV coverage a bit behind Sky in camera angles. Care unlucky not to score but Farrell kicks penalty for 16-11.

You will get people out there who aren't against doping but are only against Sky because their guy isn't winning anymore even though they had no problem when their rider was smashing it themselves doped to the gills in the process.

That's a perfect example above and they seriously have brass necks on them to do so. I wouldn't open my mouth if my position was one of this and wouldn't be in no place to do so whatsoever.

This is funny. But, why mention Contador? It completely baffles me and says a huge deal about David Walsh and his strange, confused and childlike mindset. He could mention anyone, why then constant attacking of Alberto? In fact why even bring cycling rivalry and another professional rider into a exchange on rugby? It strikes me as weird. Walsh really needs to get a grip. His anti Contador pro Sky stance is embarrassing for him. He made a factual error and should've laughed it off. Instead he just looks a strange, twisted Sky fan. The quicker this nose dive crashes and blows up the better.

Yeah that was a weird exchange. He is just like Armstrong when criticism (or even perceieved criticism) comes along, hit back twice as hard and deflect.

He mentioned Contador because the person he was replying to, Trudgin, is a fan of Contador

Sky's cameras do the pictures for the Heineken Cup in rugby.

The second guy thought he had an opportunity for a cheap jibe mentioning his "beloved Sky". Of course the Contador fan jumped in as well agreeing with it. Pretty obvious to me what was going on and what it was implying with his reporting on Sky in cycling.

He could have mentioned that he's referring to Sky's coverage of the Heineken Cup in the tweet where he called the first person pathetic, then, cos he didn't exactly use 140 characters there. He could still have had time to call that person pathetic for alluding to his cycling allegiance, and the Contador fan wouldn't have had reason to jump in, and if they did they could be readily ignored. Maybe he didn't have time, but though there is a good chance that the poster knew Walsh was referring to the Heineken Cup and was winding him up about his attitude to Sky Professional Cycling Team, there is also a chance that he didn't. I certainly didn't make the link to Sky's coverage of the Heineken Cup as opposed to BBC's coverage of international rugby.

Therefore Walsh could have made a reference to the Heineken Cup coverage before calling the tweeter pathetic, otherwise it just looks like him snapping at somebody for next to nothing.

Walsh is a huge rugby fan, a lot more than cycling I would say. He knows the TV coverage of the sport well. If it was a genuine mistake on Walsh's part do you still think the word "beloved" was needed to get your point across. If the person responded by saying the tweet without "beloved", then fair enough. The point could have been made easily without the jibe. That was mentioned for one and only intentioned purposes and Walsh took the bait. The Contador fan only came in after that when Walsh was wound up.

I watched the FA Cup last week on ITV and their camera angles are nothing like Sky(don't have the rights to the FA Cup). If I tweeted something like that, do you think people would know what competition Sky's coverage was better in and I was referring to? You don't have to compare TV coverage when they are in the same competition.

Looks like Walsh is saying if you don't think Sky could cover every sporting event better than anyone else then you are just a bitter Contador fan who loves doping and rubbish camera angles.

I heard on the radio just now that Walsh outed a very famous Irish rugby player as having failed a 'routine' dope test in the summer in todays ST. Haven't seen the paper so don't know the full details but I do know the player in question. Anyone seen this? And more importantly, how the hell is that player not banned?
