Will Walsh sit across from Froome in the private DawgJet and ask, "Did you dope, Chris?", looking him right in the eye?
Time will tell.

Dear Wiggo said:Froome assumes the position of The Don. Will be interesting to see how he handles the (peloton / self) attitudinal shift in 2014 as he goes from underdawg to top dawg.

I look forward to when Walsh tells us why he still believes in Froome and African steak marinated in ostrich sauce.
Walsh had lost his independence.

we do see him fight for his image.JimmyFingers said:I'm sure Walsh is beside himself with worry that you don't take him seriously.

recall e.g. that "for those who think I'm sky's *****" tweet, and his recent admission to have lost all sense of humor wrt sky.
so yes, he does care about his public image.
but i agree he won't be too worried.
financial security is always more important than public perception.
De Ridder is very Dutch, and could also be Flemish (though i think less common there).Zam_Olyas said:edit: on a diff subject is de ridder a flemish/dutch name?
dope for financial security? i think most doping starts with the purpose of financial gain, i.e. i think most doping is related to existential fears/desires.Would you dope or lie about clean cycling to have financial security?

lie about clean cycling to have finanical gain? brailsford, check. vaughters, check. many other DSs, check. Verbruggen/McQuaid, check.
i'm not sure if we've caught walsh lying yet.
but if you ask me would walsh deliberately put the blinders on to make financial gain? it looks like it.
thehog said:Wel he derserves to make money as we all do.
I think he just got caught up on the "Walsh's world tour" and has become what he most despised about his counterparts during the lance years.
I think it's admirable that he holds the position on Sky that he does. But when you see the books, the dinners and the odd conclusions he now draws in contridiction with the past. Well you just take him with a grain of salt as see he's become a parody of himself.
But I get it. He needs to consolidate now. Bring in good money as journalism doesn't pay well long term. He's trading off the "I slayed lance" name.
I just don't take him seriously. He's a bit of a joke really as a serious journalist.
He's probably much better suited to the travel or food section of the Times.
Alas he now locked in. He can't change his position now or change course. So he'll just keep writing fluffy articles about Sky. And that's ok. He's doing what he paymasters want him to do.

"I don't know if they are doping but this is why I believe in Chris Froome and Jesus this steak taste good when paired with this wine"
Perhaps he should be interviewing Kerrison about this crazy assed accelerations and not dining with the Dawgs.
Or maybe get a interview with Leinders?
You know do the work of the investigative reporter that took down Armstrong![]()
gooner said:That's grand and I agree with this but I wouldn't single out one journalist here. As has been said by others, I would like to see someone speak with de Jongh and Fran Millar on twitter said you would have to ask him what part he played in the hiring of Leinders. I think Walsh has already spoken to Julich but why aren't other journalists getting off their high horse and instead of just talking about their suspicion, try and ask the appropriate people who might say something of substance with regards to this.
People talk about Kimmage and Stokes but they haven't done anything investigative regarding Sky.
thehog said:I don't want to know why they hired Leinders. I don't care.
I want to know what the fxxx he did for 80 days. An interview with Michele Leinders would be a scoop worth getting.
Also I will single out one journalist. Because he's the guy who's apparently "imbedded" at Sky with infetted access.
But I agree with you. I'd like him to ask some decent questions to the right people. Not about doping but about the performances. Just some insights would be good. Because I've never seen a team perform like them.... ever. If you want me to believe to why.
It's all good thengooner said:Just got Walsh's new book moments ago and there is a chapter in reference to the hiring of Leinders. Flicking through quickly Walsh mentions 2 different interviews Leinders did where he said his role at Sky was minimal.
The JTL situation looks to be covered significantly at the end of the book.
