How can you explain Yates being the same time as Pogacar? The wind only changed in the last 10 minutes?
Not really. The wind is just an excuse imo. You can see Pogacar's cadence was even worse than Yates on the climb. McNulty can blame the wind but I don't think it matters more than 5s at best. It's hilarious to see the commentators and guys on Twitter saying it's because of the wind. :tearsofjoy:

Did you compare the footage between the two at the finish?

Not expecting much bar what looks like an uphill sprint tomorrow or a late move from someone far down, but stage 3/4 and obviously 6 could be decent, especially if Pog feels as strong as at TA and willing to go longer distance.

Pogacar will start tomorrow in the mountains jersey (holding it for McNulty I think)

Carapaz already getting into form. I like this guy. Always attacking. And Adam is up there. This race is going to be fun.

I think Roglic and Jumbo nailed the wind situation, the latter competitors clearly were going slower. Can't be a coincidence that both Foss and Vingegaard were also very fast.
And Pogacar was up 2 second on Roglic after the first climb, but lost more than 20 second on the flat part. Some of it was probably also just not taking risks as well as thew wind.

Amway, great win for Roglic

As I said, compare the footage between the two over the last 100 m, the wind had clearly picked up. Even compared to Yates, actually. How much of an impact it had on the outcome I have no idea.
how about you just compare Roglic vs other on the last climb, there is a video posted a page back

PS: Piccoli finished 2:09 back, so I think he was just going for the fastest climbing time.

Considering his excellent time trial performances in UAE and Tirreno I would expecting clearly better from Pogačar but maybe he didn't handle that well the fact that this time trial was on day1. Roglic and McNulty were sublime and so was Vingegaard, surprise of the day I would say. Adam Yates clearly has taken a step forward since he joined Ineos on these efforts too.
