You are hardly likely to see sprinters at this race when there is one sprint opportunity, and there is Schelderpris tomorrow and Ineos is not competeting.

How about Lapeira's sprint win in last year's race? Or Godon's double stage win at Romandie for that matter? That's three examples in the last year alone.

Ok Lapeira was bad too, but at least a bit of an uphill sprint. Different in that sense. Not a typical bunch sprint?

Godon one of his stage wins last year wasn't a full on bunch sprint (some fast sprinters dropped), other one was but top 10 is significantly better. At least it had some C sprinters in it (and some were dopped too)*

So imo this is worse.

Don't get me wrong, it's always bad in these kinda WT races and its just smart to go here with a decent sprinter. It's free WT wins or points. No dig to Ineos or Ewan.

Bringing Ewan here is just smart, and frankly I never understand why teams don't bring their 2nd sprinter to these WT stage races

In the right side of the road, Gloag also crashed or was at least off the bike.
