Shame for Trek, the race and Ayuso that he crashed and has gone home. Whether he should even have started though is open for discussion, as his form was clearly way below his norm.

I believe it was Mas who a couple of years ago had crashed and continued to crash a lot because he was afraid of crashing or something. Maybe what's happening to Ayuso? I'm sad for him :(

Makes sense. Since my first fall in a roundabout for leaning too much I am afraid of leaning and thus I cycle downhill slowly but without leaning too much due to fear I know I am not doing it properly and could be more dangerous in the end.

Apply that to the peloton and it makes it even worse as you cannot really slow too much. Confidence is a big part of riding downhill and in tricky roads

McNulty seems to want to do a Pogi and has attacked from 107 km to go and has a 2 minute gap over the peloton (Aranburu chasing 50 secs behind McNulty).

Sucks about Ayuso. I wanted a healthy season from him, would have been fascinating to see how he could have done.
Hope its not too serious - must be having 2nd thoughts about being here, especially with an additional training crash since P-N
He still has plenty of time to be in top shape in the Tour.

A big break with lots of teammates. Today will be Decathlon's first real test. If the soft drink company is going to help them, then everyone there should be fired.

I doubt Decathlon domestiques have the power to bring the break back before the last climb. Big mistake to let so many riders go in the breakaway.

Decathlon have a fine young team for this race, but in the tour they will need Benoot flying for days like this, interesting to see how they will cope with Visma/UAE trying to infiltrate breakaways with 4 guys
