Jan Ullrich quote

I've seen following quote on doping attributed to Jan Ullrich (At least in some form):

"As Jan Ullrich said: if you can't add 1 + 1 then i can't help you."

One poster has this as the footer on their posts. I performed a couple of searches on this, but can't find an article or context for the quote. Can anyone point me to the context of this quote?

On the topic of Jan Ullrich quotes, my favourite was his response to questions about his weight.

"I have seen many lean riders in the peloton, but very few Tour winners",*…

"My month is July!"

"I don't want to end as a watercarrier"

"In cycling you shoudn't think too much.

"For me Doping is, if someone is caught positive."

"I have never ever cheated other riders in my life. That is a fact."

"I will talk if Germany is ready/ripe for it. I've written a lot and I made my thoughts. At some point it has to go out because otherwise I will surely explode"
(sad that he imploded)

"I focus myself on sport, or my head breaks."

"I would appreciate to have Jan's legs for a year - or rather the whole body and my head on top." - Jens Voigt

I've always had a soft spot for Jan, thought at the time when he rode he was one of the very best riders in both ability and mental strength.

ANd the other day there was a photo of him (on here I think) sitting in a car, where he'd grown his hair a little and he looked really really happy, still fit as..

I wonder if he still rides??

Was it Jens who said if Jan had Zabel's training ethic he would have won 10 Tours? (Probably true, btw).
I think that was Godefroot as the 2004 tour ended and when Ulle was asked about it he said that he would have to discuss that matter with him...let's see..found this : http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/godefroot-jan-zabel-merckx-9001

Close but the actual quote was "It's a shame, because if you could put together Erik Zabel's professionalism with Ullrich's talent, we'd have Eddy Merckx".

Yeah that specific quote was definitely made by Jeff:
"Frankly, if the rest of the peloton was clean, Ullrich would have won the Tour de France at least 10 times."

not sure I grab Jeff's logic..............

Jan doped too but still couldn't beat lance.........so how would this change things?

Based on Pevenage's latest comments (July 2010) it sounds like they took it easy after the 1998 bust and and only started "working on it" after the 2004 tour fiasco when they realized that LA and the boys were just too strong after it seemed in 2003 that Ullrich could win again.

Can't say it worked very well in 2005 (although Ulle did have a freak crash a couple of days before the start which couldn't have helped) and for 2006 we'll never know.

I believe , he is busy raising his family , still rides and gets involved with charity rides and work , Also at the club level . Not sure about the last one .
but i guess when the wives say enough is enough of this circus , its time to listen.
I know he is putting some support behind the Focus Frames built in Germany if i am not mistaken . I would have to review the Film footage of the Eurosport bike show . He was interviewed there .
Like so many great bike riders , he is putting something back into the sport .
As his kids grow up , maybe you will see him as coach or director or something . For now i think it is family time .
