What a ride today by Jasper! Really supports my initial thoughts of P-R being a much better race than the Flanders classics.
What? Valv, i'm very disappointed with him. He was dropped by oss in almost every section with cobbles

That's because Oss could have won yesterday had he not worked so much for Van Avermaet and not spent 50km solo :p

Me too, but placing 4th in Roubaix after being in a long break up the road is good in my book.

I think he was in trouble a couple of times, but never dropped. Great performance anyway, he looks better suited for PR than Ronde.

No that's because he wanted to put a safety space. He never was dropped.

I was half joking, I know Stuyven never got properly dropped but Oss was super yesterday. One of the strongest, I reckon stronger than Stuyven.

Yes, I agree that Stuyven wasn't as strong as Oss. But Stuyven was measuring his effort for as he knew he would continue riding after their duo disbanded all the way to the velodrome. Oss was putting it all out for GVA, then nursing his bike home.

Just watched a replay of today's stage. Too bad, Jasper couldn't finish off the great teamwork from man of the day, Mads P., but he's getting close to the Maglia Ciclamino, so atleast that's one good thing to come out of today's frustrating second place.
How do you guys fancy his chances of winning the Maglia Ciclamino? or winning a stage?

No chance for the Maglia Ciclamino,Gaviria wants to reach Milan and win it.
Stuyven has a chance to win the stage to Bergamo imo.

You are right, that it's probably going to be difficult. I was just wondering, since it looks like a goal for Jasper the way he's been riding for intermediate sprints (along with Gaviria) for the last few days. Compared to Gaviria, he only really has one major strength in this Giro, which is a better engine on the flat, but it could be difficult to exploit that advantage fruitfully in the hunt for points.

yeah, and for Gaviria it's a secondary goal, even more so for his team. With basically no one else interested in the jersey, he probably even could join the break again as early as tomorrow and take another 40 points

What a loveable character! The finish was a bit too hard for him after all, had it been easier he would most likely have beaten Dillier pretty easily. Really is riding a good Giro so far.

Can't believe last post was from 2017. Well here he is again, winning a monument no less.

I didn't realize he's only 28 (29 next month). I would have guessed he was two or three years older, because he's been around for a long time already. This win will give him a higher status in his team as well, so he won't always have to work for Pedersen. He might be another rider like Nuyens or Van Summeren, who takes one major win on the day when everything goes as wished. On the other hand, given his age and his team, he might win more in the future.
