I am major fascinated how he looked after this win. No beaming smile, no extreme screaming, just a light contentment of accomplishment. Even as he had to smile for the pics he had to pose fake it :joycat:

Not suggesting he wasn't happy. Probably just exhausted.

He was relieved and taking it in.

He celebrated over the line. A few words with family and thanking his teammates right after the finish. He is class.

Yeah. Big difference from his first win in tour de Pologne. He was more hyper. I recognized his mom and dad and just assumed the other gal was the little sister who has grown up :D I didn't see the gf though?

It was his sister. Are you Portuguese?
No I'm far from Portugueze. I'm just a regular stalker fan slightly face blind but with a ridiculously good memory. (It's kinda irritating as I store so much uneccessary info I don't need in real life :joycat:)
His voice though is angelic! The main reason I have listened to a lot of his interviews! (I have very sensitive hearing)

After his pink Giro and some other impressive 3rd week performances there it’s good to see him get a dominant win like this. Still think he’s bound to win a Giro or even podium the Tour someday.

Love to see him take initiative and be the strongest in these races. Behind the 3 he’s one of the best.

And he is portuguese. He wants a portuguese rider to fail just to show how Mou was wrong.
Insane...
Dont understand how anyone says "it was easy to predict" in regard to the claim that Almeida would be the most improved rider either.

Nobody else was making that prediction... and many were just mocking it.

It was right though and correct. All that matters in the end.

I don't believe he will be good in Romandie because they race in very bad weather there. João has some troubles racing under rain in consecutive days.
It will be more hard because evenepoel and vingegaard will be there, but it doesn't matter, he already have 1 GC race in the pocket this year, and that's good for him to be in a good position in terms of being a protected leader by the team, in the upcoming races pogacar are not there.

He was the strongest in this race, congrats for him, but the perfomances and the gaps to this competition doesn't show any signal he is better than last years. He is the same place as he was in the last years:top 10 regular GC rider.
What's improved seems to be mentality. (He has managed to eff up a lot of stage race leads after all :grinning:)

In 2021, he already was winning GC races.

Actually for me, 2021 was the year where i saw the best version of Almeida, and i think it was a shame the fact he leaved quick step when he was improving a lot there.

He was the strongest GT rider in the third week of the Giro 2021.
