He officially came back from a 2 year ban. But what I said is that it was effectively a 12 month ban. Stop twisting my words.

I am not twisting your words.

All valid points, but also remember that Contador came more or less straight form a 2 years ban (Well 6 months), I think its fair to assume he will be stronger as well with the prober preperation.

Actually 12 months

I took the liberty of bolding the parts which I thought made my point when saying that you insinuated AC came back from a 12 months ban.

12 months without racing isn't the same as a 12 months ban. Furthermore AC did race in Januar so I don't really see you point. A race is a race.

Why would Sky that? They're not stupid, they've no chance against Contador in top shape, no one has.

He hasn't lost a GT since 2007. Granted you've the tour 2011 but he had so much bad luck there and he still rode very aggresive after a very very HARD giro. Look what Froome did in the vuelta this year, shows you one more time how impressive Contador actually was in that tour.

Unless Contador breaks something, no way. HELL NO they've chance. They'll never say it but even the delivery boy of Wiggins's food knows it.

you are desperate. that's an extreme case of pro- contador syndrome, much deeper than florecita's one. you see what you like to see and nothing more. though, possibly such views make one follow the sport.

Well yes you are because I never said he came back from a 12 month ban and in a later post I explained my point but you cleverly ignored that post.

I'm glad others do see my point and also share my opinion and by the way let's stop the discussion because were not even supposed to discuss this in this thread.

Yet another hijacked thread :(

Thank you......I was waiting for someone to not mention Contador !

Everyone knows that he had limited racing before the Vuelta but the ban included the off season as someone else was trying to explain. I still think it is hard to weigh up the fatigue factor for the riders that did the Tour and Giro against Contador's arrival into the race fresh. For Froome it was obvious because he did a lot of work for Wiggins but Valverde's Tour was more measured and once he dropped back he only targeted certain stages. I was still surprised how well he went in the Vuelta. I just can't see a one sided Tour in 2013. I think it will be a good race. I hope that Valverde, Rodriguez, Froome and others hit the race in top form. No one wants top see a one sided race anyway. Not much excitement in that.

purito should wait until the vuelta route is released to decide which GTs to ride.

If the Vuelta route as usually is the case these days well suited to his strengths, he should skip the Tour, concentrate on winning the Vuelta and maybe ride the Giro to win a stage/as a training race.

However if the Vuelta has more then 75Km of TT, and the Tour route rumoured to favour climbers with less than 50Kms of ITT, he should target a podium place in the Tour.

He'll be at least on the podium on every GT despite not winning any of them.

He'll do the vuelta whatever as its prep for worlds and his home race.

I'd love to see 4 to 5 guys fighting it out. :)

I think he has to do the Tour anyway. He has showed lot's of improvement in his past two grand tours. I don't see what he has to fear. He climbs as well as most people except Contador and that can vary from day to day. His TT riding has improved and he is a great uphill sprinter. As long as the TT kms are reasonable in the Tour and it is going to be the much rumoured mountainous race, he would have to think he can podium or at least aim for that.

With JRod in the race, it will be much harder for Nibali to win the giro than if he had to fight against Scarponi

Something tells me that Scarponi will be not racing next year, anyway.

It's a win-win situation, in my case. ;)

Interesting, I have the same hunch...

Hmmm. A cyclist with a cigar. Should we not have a new thread
several pages long about how he is disrespecting the sport? Or
is it only Sky riders that we do that for?
First of all, is the cigar lit? 2nd Purito = Little Cigar ;)

I agree that the attacks on wiggins smoking are silly and beside the point, he can do what he wants, but i do urge you to note that Purito has not been secretly caught smoking by a hidden cam, but rather has shoved a cigar into his fingers to pose for a deliberate photo to honour his nickname.

Of course, thus I still stand by "I have the feeling he doesn't mean it." One needs to learn how to read between the lines.
so you mean that Purito secretly wants to race the Tour?
Cons:
- It will have more ITT than the Giro
- It will have AC and Froome
- It will screw his Vuelta preparation
- It will screw his WC preparation

Pros?
- It's the 100th.

What makes you think of it?
