Did coolest move of the day for sure :)

He would have won by 5 minutes if there hadn't been those extra meters and waste of energy :p

That mistake of his was pretty entertaining. Great ride by both Gadret and Duport though, there is hope for French cycling :)

Too bad both are over 30 years old.

Has Gadret completely stopped cyclocross to focus on road?

edit: just saw Echoes post, apparently not

I doubted Gadret, and Hitch has praised him for a long time, I tip my hat off to you sir.

I like Gadret because I love cx.
But I don't really like his attitude, or maybe I do, I dunno :D

Great giro tho.

Mad props to both of these guys for their ongoing party-crashing.

And, seriously, does Gadret have any strikes against him BESIDES the Nick Roche incident last year? I'll admit that it was a **** move; but it's only the national framing (Frenchman screws nice Irish boy) that has made it into a bloody shirt that people keep waving. If he had done the same to Nocentini I doubt we'd hear about it nearly as much.

True. Namely because Nocentini would have been unlikely to write an article for the Irish Times beginning with the words " If John Gadret ends up dead i am the prime suspect" or something to that effect, which popularized the incident.

Yesterday, instead of working with Dupont, he rode 40 yards ahead of him for the last few kms. Also, he looks a bit like a weasel. And I can't recall him ever riding for a team mate, even when he wasn't the team leader (although to be fair he probably has done so and I just don't remember).

To be honest, I prefer him him as a kind of cartoon supervillain rather than as a not otherwise particularly memorable secnd tier climber. He's more fun twiddling an imaginary moustache.

Great performances both him and Dupont are putting in. How badly are they going to get milled in the flat ITT though? From what I recall, Gadret is woeful on the TT bike. I have no idea about Dupont.

Good question.

Gadret:
- Last year's Giro in the final ITT 15 km, he lost 1 minute 17 seconds
- Last year's TDF 52 km, he came in dead last 170th place, losing 11 minutes 48 seconds
- Last year's Romandie 23.4 km, he came 95th, losing 3 minutes 11 seconds

In his favour, he came 3rd in the Giro MTTof last year, which is stage 16 of this Giro. He had about 10 seconds on Nibali and Scarponi.

I like Gadret cause he really sticks out in the peloton and because it's great to finally see a Frenchman up there again. I also read somehwere recently that he had a troubled youth and worked in the vineyards of the Champagne region picking grapes for the stuff he now got to drink after his stage win. :)

I think I already posted somewhere else today that Gadret has surprised and impressed me this Giro. I am still not warming to him as a a rider to root for though :D.

Really? That's fantastic.
