Jonas Vingegaard: Godzilla, the King of Monsters

not sure we saw anything new today - Pog has always been able to gap JV by 30 secs but he never seems to widen it. At least today JV did not catch him but there are more summit finished to come.
Always? He has done that 1 time the last 2 years, when Vinge tried a long range attack on Tourmalet last year and felt the consequence of it in the end.

What we saw today happened 0 times the last 2 years.

I hate to be this guy but am i the only one knowing Pogacar rode with a broken wrist last tour de france? what happened in PN before the injury?

Why is 2023 such a sticky reference to some people when you know he limited and the energy spent on the fracture, rode in pain etc. 2023 as a reference to anything is so wild to me and cope mechanism to me atleast but people are different.

I see your posts as more cope than anything else.

Vinge has dropped Pogacar on the long mountain stages in 2021, 2022 and 2023, yet you make up excuses for all of it. But somehow you also think Vinge having a punctured lung in April is not an excuse.

Vinge is clearly more injured this year than Pogacar was last year. I doubt you can find a doctor in the world who would say otherwise.

But im not saying that as a reference against him am I? I know his prep was impacted ofcourse I do but i dont say he will beat him today or tomorrow cause he did in the mountains in 2023 I just dont find that relevant. Thats the only part I find wild and cope mechanism nothing else when for instance he have ride away with easy everytime he wanted so far from what weve seen. The head can lie but the eye never lies.

Same will apply to vingegaard next year if he drops everyone with ease including Pogacar I find that way more relevant than that Pogacar dropped him this year when we know what we know regarding the crash etc thats all im saying if you get me.

Thats what it is from me im a youngling with fresh eyes history you guys know better than me but sometimes the past also clouds the present that was only my point.

Not trying or wanne rain on his parade I do believe from what I know vingegaard speciality is heat especially where I think he is just straight up better than pogacar. And week 3 with pogacar giro in the legs anything can still happen. But that above was only my point sorry.

I wonder if you people actually feel bad now that everything you said before this stage was proven wrong. But probably you will just continue your propaganda
I was surprised that Pog managed to get that gap today. At first I thought it was business as usual: Pog exploded away - Vingegaard kept the gap at around 10-15 seconds. I thought Vinge would reel him in.

If Pog does this once more and avoids having any breakdowns, he could ride conservatively in Vinge's wheel and win the race even if Vinge pulls off a TT like last year. But let's see what happens. Vinge said he had calculated with being up to two min behind even before this stage, yet still believed he could win the race in week 3. Great chance for Pog now, but we'll have to see what happens tomorrow and on stage 19.

Side story: I'm shocked with how Evenepoel has improved his climbing since Dauphine. He struggled a lot in that race; now he's flying - crushing everyone but the two super mutants.

Tomorrow will be key. I dont believe in this vingegaard has better recovery at all let me just be clear find it very weird knowing Pogacar rode with a fracture last year I just think thats hope at best and the body spends enourmous amount of energi just to heal it and when it was fractured during the race even it speak volumes.. Though it might be true but then that should be showned tomorrow its to late in 3 week his only chance then is if Pog bonks from the giro and less to nothing to do with him.

He needs to atleast come in with him tomorrow for that theory to hold and if so its game on indeed.

Well, we will know more tomorrow. Our dear Danish Fisherman can't efforts to lose another 40+ seconds. He needs to use a big, blood bag and try to exchange blows by winning tomorrow, even with a small gap.

I almost posted so based on last year tomorrow's stage is a baked in JV masterclass of teaching Pog a lesson stage, but he's even gone and said to the media tomorrow suits him because the longer and harder it is the better for him.

That's the quiet part out loud JV 🙃

Even Vismas socials are going we lost a battle not the war, "New chance coming up tomorrow 😏" and thats their emoji not mine. Not fair play Pog you were just better than us today.

Rodriguez was a little closer to Evenepoel today. Just a bit, but noticeable enough. Evenepoel looked a bit cooked at the end as well on shallow gradients, which doesn't necessarily bode well for what's coming.

As for Visma, I knew Vinge was flarked today when Niermann attempted some radio transmission mind-games during the stage by claiming UAE's pace setting in the bunch with Soler was "good for Jonas".

That sort of public bravado usually hides the complete opposite of what they're saying.

Again the pre-crying like how you pre-cried before today's stage. And when Pogacar wins tomorrow you will start pre-crying about the Bonette stage.

Yeah, Evenepoel wasn't far ahead of the rest today, but overall his climbing ability has sky rocketed since Dauphine. That was merely my point. He's a different rider from what saw in that race just a month ago and from the guy who bonked in the Vuelta last year.

2021? What happened on Ventoux was very brief and didn't result in any time loss for Pogacar. What did result in a time gap was stage 8 when Pogacar destroyed Vingegaard and everyone else.

Pogacar 4th @ 49'
Vingegaard 10th @ 4:09.

Lest we forget.
