Oh $hit!!! Tour is over. We have to wait if he can make it to the Vuelta and hope for a great recovery without long term limitations to his career
Tour at 100% form is over. maybe he might ride it to get racing miles and form for the Vuelta

Why? Do you have medical expertise or in depth knowledge about elite athletes recovering?Oh $hit!!! Tour is over. We have to wait if he can make it to the Vuelta and hope for a great recovery without long term limitations to his career
It's over. Obviously for the level he would need to have to beat his rivals. Not sure if it's over, but these are very much undesired complications of what was already a bad medical bulletin after the crash.

Get a grip. Asking questions is suspension of disbelief until evidence is presented by users.jeez the level of ignorance and denial in this thread is too damn high... there is 100% no Tour for Jonas this year. just accept it and move on. He can still be competitive at Vuelta though.
I've had broken ribs, they didn't impact my breathing.
It is the disease of our time, where everyone turns into a medical scientist the very second an injury report hits the web. This is a cycling equivalent of all the virologists and experts that spawned out of nowhere during the pandemic.Any hyperbolic statements like "Tour is over!" or "No problem, plenty of time for Tour!" is plain stupid right now.
Jonas also had a pulmonary contusion and pneumothorax, after further examinations.

As others already mentioned. You wonder at ignorance yet in claiming there's 100% no tour for him (while supposedly being completely fine for the Vuelta), you are proving to be quite ignorant yourself.jeez the level of ignorance and denial in this thread is too damn high... there is 100% no Tour for Jonas this year. just accept it and move on. There are 7 weeks between the beginning of the Tour and the beginning of the vuelta. It is not that ignorant. As others already mentioned. It's not about how many weeks is in between. It's about claiming to know something like that (no tour) 100% and at the same time calling other ignorants. There are 7 weeks between the beginning of the Tour and the beginning of the vuelta. It is not that ignorant.
He’s going to be in the hospital for at least a week due to needing a chest tube to remove the air from the pneumothorax. After that it’s hard to say. On other patient that aren’t as fit or active as Vinge, they’d have the tube 2-7 days. Then if they want to keep him for monitoring some more days. I can definitely see him taking awhile before strenuous training due to the fractures and lung issues. Both those lung conditions will make it harder to breathe and exert himself. Plus the chest tube is painful with any movement and gets worse the better he gets till it’s removed, then you have to add in the pain that stays once removed. Why? Do you have medical expertise or in depth knowledge about elite athletes recovering?
I had the idea you were a physician, so I appreciate the thorough explanation. These crashes and their recovery periods are prone to be used and abused by fans with little or no evidence. He’s going to be in the hospital for at least a week due to needing a chest tube to remove the air from the pneumothorax. , Shadow works in a hospital, but I think more in nurse capacity. I could be wrong, however.I had the idea you were a physician, so I appreciate the thorough explanation. These crashes and their recovery periods are prone to be used and abused by fans with little or no evidence.
If I'm not mistaken

I’m a RN so no diagnosing or as knowledgeable as a doctor but have seen plenty of stuff that comes up in the sport unfortunately. I’ll get my masters some day but don’t know if I want to do education or nurse practitioner which is like a physicians assistant. If I'm not mistaken

Well then, good luck with your professional development.I’m a RN so no diagnosing or as knowledgeable as a doctor but have seen plenty of stuff that comes up in the sport unfortunately. People blamed Pogacar's wrist fracture as one of the main causes of his downfall last year in the TdF. The guy still finished 2nd.
Vingegaard's injuries are 100 fold worse... yes there is more time to the TdF or Vuelta... but it is not looking good.
However Pogacar had 38 days for recovery, while Vingegaard has 86 days, so that is quite a significant difference to consider in this debate.
