he doesnt need to ever ride the giro, and having won all three gts is no special feat. its far more important for him to win a third tour. only upside is if he doesnt think he can win against pogi in both the tour and the vuelta.

I don’t know. Vuelta + 3 TDF is more difficult to achieve, but Vuelta + Giro + 2 TDF looks nicer. That you were able to do all 3

Dont know what the fanboys say, but Jonas should do the Giro–Vuelta at this stage. Realistically, thats the best way to achieve results. I know it won't happen because of the Tour is the Tour, obligations, sponsors, yada yada.

Still, he should. Jonas is almost the only one I won't fault for ducking Pogacar hes fought and tried more than anyone in GT and will be remembered as his rival there regardless of whether he rides the Tour this year or not. That won't change, so go pad your palmares while you still can.

If Jonas doesn't ride the Tour, Tadej will use it as a training camp. And then he's ready for the Vuelta.

Fewer riders have won all three grand tours than have won three Tours de France though - it IS a special feat! I think Visma probably care more about the third Tour, but Vingegaard would definitely like to win the Giro.

I like this quote.

Vingo is realistic and yet positive. He said similar during the 2024 and 2025 TdFs when defeat seemed inevitable. He never gives up. Hard not to respect that and you never know until you try - that is kind of what road racing is all about?

I'm looking forward to Jonas riding the Giro. In fact, I think the generally harder mountains suit him even better than the Tour?

If a rider like Nibali could win all three grand tours then it is only natural one of the two best grand tour riders of the current generation attempt that. It would also put some pressure back on Pogacar to target winning the Vuelta which is missing from his palmarès.

I think the gap is a bit smaller than the Tour suggested. If he's able to find out what was the reason behind his major lose (and big underperforming) on Hautacam and eliminate it, things can be rather close IMO.

My 50 cents, Narvaez' role is underrated. With Almeida in the race, Narvaez (probably) doesn't do such an acceleration that destroys Vingegaard's legs and the gap is much, much smaller.

P.s., I know people will say "Pogacar was sick/hurt...." but his gap compared to the rest of the field was consistent throughout the Tour, therefore he wasn't getting worse. It's Vingegaard that was mich better/on his normal level after Hautacam.

I definitely think he should ride the Tour next year. Time will tell whether he'll do so after having ridden the Giro.

Sounds like Pogacar fanboys dream. Everyone should be afraid of him and skip the races he does so he can just win monuments an GT’s easily

more riders have won three tours because they targeted the more valuable goal. had indurain ridden the vuelta between 93 and 95, he would have won all three too. but it rightly wasnt a priority

I agree that winning three Tours de France is more prestigious, I just disagree with your statement that "having won all three gts is no special feat".

No, not really. I dont care what Jonas does in regard to Pogacar at all, only MvdP can alter if Pogi is full strenght in some few races now. Jonas aint even sniffing the Tour unless Pogacar crashes out or something like that. If that's not obvious to everyone now, then thats a you problem. I meant it purely in terms of whats best for his palmares.

Sure, im also certain he will and dont get me wrong hes still the best of the rest and if something happens to Pogi he more likely than not win. I just dont see the fault in padding your palmares with the highest probability either, imo Jonas has earned it. But yeah he will likely ofc do the Tour, hope he wins the Giro first.
