I'm saying this because kelderman take the spot of Kruijswijk.
I think kuss at 100% without the fatigue of the giro(he still did a good tour), kelderman at his best and Kruijswijk in benoot spot, would be better. Then WVA, van baarle, laporte and nathan(he did a hell of a job, and i was sceptic with him), and of course Vingegaard.
Benoot was really strong in the 3rd week. Especially stage 14 and 15. As good as Nathan was when it comes to positioning and considering that WVA, Van Baarle and Benoot are just as good on the flat a better climber instead of Laporte would be my pick. But I guess they needed Laporte for WVA sprint ambitions.

Congrats to Jonas Vingegaard. Just too good when it mattered. Perfect preparation by him and JV.
But I do wonder if we could see how Vingegaard responds with some adversity. On the team side of things he has that all covered with JV. But you also need luck to win grand tours. When he is put on the back foot that will be very interesting how he responds physically and mentally.

Hard to imagine adversity.
That person would have to climb faster than Pantani.
Because on the flat he'll always have WVA to get him out of troubles.
I'm actually surprised Pogacar actually beat him on some stages where they made similar efforts (Puy de Dôme for example).
Imo Vingegaard 2023 > Vingegaard 2022 = Pogacar 2023 (minus loze) > Pog 2022-2021 >> the rest.
Congrats to Vingegaard, such an impressive feat.

I guess I am talking about things like crashes or illness interrupting prep. After all Pog had the LBL crash and that does seem to have been a factor in his collapse on Loze. Others warned of this before the Tour eg Contador.

Perhaps, but perfection in this crash-filled version is pretty hard to maintain. It looks good in the rear view mirror when it occurs but JV guys all contributed as deeply as possible. UAE has little to correct as well and Ineos found reasons to race. All in all it wasn't a foregone conclusion for any podium position for much of the race.

JV makes it easier for Jonas to have cover for a bad day, too. I'm sure he and his guys knew when he wasn't really ready to handle the best of Pogi and adjusted pace and tactics to minimize the risk.

Not sure he has the mental capacity or the physical strength to do two GT's in 1 season.
Yeah might have to wait for him to 3-4 Tours before he even considers it
Tough to say. It is not something you see a lot aside from the Spaniards. I just don’t think he is up for it. The tour is very intense and he is there at the front every day.
Edit: also because the team has Roglic is going for it, might try to win it 5 times next year and if Roglic goes they might need to use the vuelta leadership to attract a good replacement or who knows, maybe Kuss can be persuaded to giver leadership a go at the Vuelta.
I think it would be fun if he did Giro as buildup. But that is a big risk to his Tour form, so probably won’t do that either.
But we’ll see he made much bigger waves this spring than previously, so maybe his hunger for non-Tour wins is growing.

With Rogla being so reliable and with a perfect prep, Vinge doesn't have to worry about blowing up and letting the team down. When he feels good, he can just go ahead and do some damage.
I expect we'll see a Solaison redux at least once in the race.

Smart decision. Jonas is very well suited for the Vuelta - the heat is a strength and the mountain stages this year are pretty hard. A lot better than what he has done post Tour previously.
Now, the interesting stuff is whether it's more of a Klöden-role or an actual dual leadership. I think the latter.
