Teams & Riders Jonas Vingegaard thread: Love in Iberia

I feel pretty sure that Vingegaard will give Kuss the win today. He will, if possible, try to cross the finish line in the same time as Kuss. In my eyes, the only thing that can change this result is if (extremely selfish) Roglic tries to attack from far out, which in this case will be an attack on both Vingegaard and Kuss. Jumbo Visma will with certainty let the break take the stage today, so Roglic cannot use a possible stage win as an excuse to attack his team mates who helped him to Grand Tour victories earlier in his career.

Vingegaard, in this case, will cement his place in the peleton as probably the most fair (also waiting for Pogacar in TDF 2022) and sympathetic rider who has given a domestique a Grand Tour victory. Surely this has never happened before.

Personally, I hope he goes for the win as this is a race and the strongest rider should win. To honor the race. But I suspect he is too good of a person to do this.

Only the man without class (Roglic) can stop Vingegaard in gifting Kuss the victory. We will see today.
This is beyond laughable.

Let me get this straight:
  • Vingegaard did not really prep for this race, seemingly indicating it doesn’t mean much to him
  • Roglic would be matching the Vuelta wind record and was denied his big GT target, the Tour, by the team, whereas JV is secure as the top GC rider in the world with little to gain here as two-time Tour champ
  • This could be life changing for Kuss, with a career defining, wealth giving moment at hand
  • Roglic was significantly stronger in the ITT and on the first real climb on stage 6
  • Kuss was gifted time in a breakaway but has been weaker than team leaders in the ITT and across mountain stages
  • Roglic has sat in the bunch marking opponents while both teammates rode up the road, hurting his own GC chances, on multiple occasions
  • Vingegaard has snapped to his teammates ever single time, refusing to sacrifice for his teammates
  • Yesterday, the team agreed to ride for Roglic, but instead Vingegaard audibled and rode for the win, not only taking the stage but also passing Roglic in GC
  • Today, Roglic rode for the win with little hope of catching either of his teammates in GC, but instead of Vinge acting like Roglic the day before and sitting on, he chased down Roglic and put significant time on Kuss
  • Roglic is the bad guy?
Nonono, Vingegaard absolutely did not chase down Roglic yesterday. That was Kuss! The nice guy that everybody wants to see win the Vuelta. I agree the footage was really bad, but from what we've seen Vingegaard hasn't been on the front at all.

You don't have to believe me, Kuss even apologized for his move to Roglic after the race. Clearly audible on camera.

This is beyond laughable.
You can't handle to read the truth. We've all seen your comments the past days, being busy at trash talking Vingegaard at every opportunity. You just do not like how the race panned out.

Only Roglic can take the GT win away from Kuss by attacking. Will he show his true colors later and attack Vingegaard and Kuss or will he fall in line and accept his place behind Vingegaard? Follow later today.

You don't know the truth, except liking the fish boy. After Jonas attacked both and gained time because they had to sit and wait, you really liked that didn't you? Sure you did. When Roglič went with 1 minute down, it was Jonas again jumping on his wheel and not waiting. You liked that too right? Sure, all for fishy boy to slip in red. He can sit with Kuss to show his a good boy, but nah. *** him.

It should be quite obvious to everyone, except if you have some kind of antipathy towards Vingegaard. Judging on your reaction and your comments, it shows. If you tried to hide it you weren't doing a good job.

Vingegaard is very sympathetic and he wants to gift Kuss the Vuelta win. How will Roglic respond to this? He got his stage win at the Angliru. He proved he is a good GC contender, but not better than Vingegaard. If he attacks today the only purpose will be to take away the jersey from Kuss. He will show his true colors, perhaps this is the reason you're mad? Your hero turned out to have a few not-so-nice values.

Yeah Jonas really showed sympathy by attacking Kuss two times (while Kuss and Rog had to sit and wait) and following Rog yesterday to ride himself within 8s to red jersey. What a way to support Kuss! Good job man. If Roglič attacks with 1 minute down to Kuss and Jonas jumps on his wheel to ride himself in red - now that's a proper support to Kuss. Good one. Jesus.

You should blame roglic for not be able to drop Vingegaard on angliru. It’s a shame for you, that your "idol" can't even drop Vingegaard when he is not in his peak shape. You should also remember that roglic attacked on the climb of bejes, in the last km, but he even wasn't able to drop Mas and ayuso.
Don't blame other riders, just because your favourite rider, is not the stronger.

He didn't attack Kuss and Roglic. He attacked Ayuso, Mas, Vlasov etc. Kuss and Roglic had the opportunity to close the gap, just like Vingegaard did on stage 6 when Roglic was the first to attack. Roglic also tried to attack on Bejes but failed to drop mas and Ayuso.

Roglic, though, attacked Vingegaard and Kuss since they were 3 Jumbo Visma in front alone. No Mas, no Ayuso, no Landa. Do you understand the difference?

Also, Vingegaard won his stage on Tourmalet, and he won a stage for NVH.

Vingegaard isn't in the red jersey, he says he wants Kuss to win. The question is all about what Roglic will do today; will he show his true colors or accept GC Kuss?

Jonas couldn't beat anyone without team orders for both Kuss and Rog to stop while mr. Sympathy is trying to get away. Pathetic "champion" material. And all crying about attacking because of birthdays, guys in hospitals, Trine having a meltdown or whatever. Way to go.

Ah cool, yesterday Roglič also attacked Landa and others, not Kuss (it's more then a minute diference anyway). But Jonas had to wheelsuck and ride himself almost in red...i wonder why he didn't help Kuss. The same thing didn't happen when Jonas attacked twice before because Kuss and Rog were not allowed to follow. They got green light only when Jonas was already close to top. So Jonas can do whatever and others can't. But yeah, Jonas only rides Vuelta to win red jersey for Kuss against bad guy Rog. I see.

You're just a hater. That's fine, but don't try to engage in honest discussion because it's pointless.

Neither Roglic nor Vingegaard looked particularly nice yesterday. But, they both now have 2 stage wins each and a podium spot, so they can call it a draw and from now on just do nothing. We'll see.

Reduced favorite group with all the GC contenders and with last Jumbo Visma domestique running out of steam. What will happen? An attack from a Jumbo Visma rider. Cycling 101.

Nobody said Roglic wasn't allowed to follow if he had the strength.

A group of only 3 Jumbo Visma riders and Roglic attacked. You're trying to cope hard saying that is the same. Absolute delusion.

No they didn't. And JOnas was faaaar from nice guy two times before that too. But Jonas lovers seem to forget that. It's not between them to decide. JV bosses should stop both of them and let Kuss get his win.

You're out of your element.
A simple question. In stage 16, do you believe that Fisher Black could follow Jonas while Roglic and Kuss didn't because they didn't have the legs?

Jonas drew first blood.

The funniest thing I've learned this week is that although Van Hooydonck apparently is Vingegaard's best friend, the feeling don't seem to be mutua. NVH had no issues with talking to someone at JV and say thank you for Vingegaard's dedication, but he couldn't be bothered to reply to the text Vingegaard send him.

Actions speak louder than words.

If Vinge truly wanted Sepp to win the GC, he wouldn't have followed Rogla but instead stayed with Sepp. It is obvious that Vinge wanted to ''accidentally'' ride himself into red using Roglic as a disguise and now that he is only 8 seconds away it is going to be difficult for him to come up with valid exuces to hide his true intentions.
