José Luis Martinez, ex-customer of Fuentes and now self-made doping distributor, has been caught by Spanish police. Apparantly due to suspicious behavior in the last 2 Vuelta's (but of course this doesn't exclude possible activities in other places).

They found what you would expect: equipment for blood transfusions, testosterone and, wait for it...

Clenbuterol.

He probably had to take that stuff off the cyclists so they didn't have it on them in the doping control!

I couldn't read the article, but as he's Spanish, I doubt he'll be ratting on anyone

Otherwise you'll be telling me that Froome is going to be rewarded for holding on to his distant 3rd place, after all??

Chaperons being star-struck by the riders has often been mentioned as a problem. Imagine when the chaperons are not star-struck, but simply personal friends of the riders.

A chaperone's job is to stay with the rider until he has provided a sample. You seriously see no conflict of interest if the chaperone is a friend of the rider?

of course I see that, but it's not as easy to cover your pee, also what if martinez isn't your chaperone in a stage for a rider that is doped? talk about risky

UCI certainly knows how to pick them. You'd think there would be ample supply of good ppl wanting a job in Spain the last two years, but they had to hire an ex-cyclist who of course is friends with some of the riders, not to mention he was implicated in Operation Puerto.

exactly what i wanted to ask: who's responsible for the hiring of chaperones?
is uci at fault here or is it the vuelta?
