sorry, they reckon we'll be in the same pool with either portugal or france due to how things are seeded.

wtf are you on? listen kid, when it's painfully obvious you're wrong, you really should try to research stuff before you try to back up your claims.

this wouldn't even be difficult to check out for yourself.

Seeding Pots

One: Argentina, Brazil, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain.

Two: Australia, Honduras, Japan, Korea DPR, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, USA.

Three: Algeria, Cameroon, Chile, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Paraguay, Uruguay.

Four: Denmark, France, Greece, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland

It is only European teams who can play an other from the same continent.

Pot 3 is the only one where the draw will be more complex.

so aussie lad, next time you'd better chickity-check yourself before you wreck yourself

and yet you don't mind posting several times on the topic and also give your ill-informed opinions and claim stuff which could confuse other users of the message board

i'm guessing as you aren't really interested, you got what 'the radio' said wrong

I love football and cycling. Being at the Nou Camp in Barcelona with nearly 99,000 people for a friendly match (and Barca won 5-0) > any AFL match I have been too (and yes I have been to the MCG for a game).

Anyway it will be no problem here in Australia. The TdF stage will be over by 1am at the latest, whilst the Fianl will be on a few hours later. I'm pretty sure ASO has worked stages around in the past so it does not have any factor on ratings.

I find soccer incredibly tedious. A game where only one goal might be scored during an entire match is not for me. American football is bad with the ten seconds of "action" per minute. The last five minutes of a basketball game seems to last half an hour. Both of those are bad enough, but soccer is in a whole different league of boredom.

Baseball and Golf = major snooze fest

Nothing worse than being forced to watch the Cubs play Kansas City in May.

I don't care who is playing in the final, if they are taking place at the same time I will watch the Tour de France stage, and if highlights are on during the final, i'll watch the highlights.

I can record the football and watch it during the night if I really want to watch it, but for me I can take it or leave it.

Oh, there is worse. Watching them in August when they are both 20 games out of first.

The draw starts in 5 minutes. If you are in the US CCNI, ESPN2, and Fox soccer channel are all carrying it live right now

If there really is a conflict, a finals match over a stage, seriously is there are choice here? The finals of course, Germany you let me down against Italy last time.

And my Germans taking on the Australians!

Wanna place some bets, guys?

Susan

Susan, your mob will kill us aussies, when they do beat us i will go for the germans as i speak the language;)

Anyway, I don't have to worry about watching the soccer as;
1. Soccer is so boring
2. Australia won't even make it past the group round
3. It's the tour de france, the greatest bike race on earth, better than a silly soccer tournament.
Can anyone tell me if the tour and the soccer will clash time wise?

For melbourne's world cup soccer bid, a secret document has been leaked whihc says
-Any road must be able to be closed at any time for FIFA officials during the event
-Devote special traffic lanes and provide police escorts for FIFA officials, guests, etc.
- Tone down promotion of the Melbourne Cup, AFL Grand Final, F1 grand Prix and other sporting events leading up to the soccer carnival.
- Kepp airports open later at night and earlier in mornings
- Remove all non soccer advertsing and commercial logos across the city at the taxpayers expense
- Special treatment to commercial partners which could be costing workers work.
- Turn the city into cultural desrt by banning substantial cultural events - such as music concerts on the days before and after matches.

Do we really want the Soccer world cup as Australia is not a soccer country? They are trying to shut the city down by stopping all of our major events being successful so the World cup can do well.

Soccer can be pretty boring but I'd say a decent game can beat a pancake-flat sprint stage as far as excitment goes. Don't get me wrong, I love watching 5 hours of Tour but sometimes you just can't help falling asleep on the couch. Plus the final game will probably be a really exciting one, since there is so much at stake!

Also, the Tour is every year, the World Cup only every four years!

I'll probably watch both, since South Africa is the same time zone as Luxembourg (I think)
