"As I say in the latest @radio_cycling, Richard Plugge, the AIGCP's head, has acted unfaithfully, self-indulgently, and has been prepared to strip another team of its assets. It's a terrible look for someone so powerful. I know some WorldTour teams are furious - as well as bemused"

A terrible look that someone is exploring this as one of the ways to potentially save his team?

A lot of people hate the upper dog, I understand that (although it's a pretty dumb sentiment). But in this case, Bakala came to him, you know. He didn't force Bakala to do anything.

"Continue until 2025" basically everyone has a year to find a new place elsewhere.

"Lefevere and Bakala would complete their project together until 2025, we heard from a good source, although the latter would like to phase out. Additional investments to strengthen the round center around Remco Evenepoel no longer seem possible."

This is the important part. It means Bakala has had enough & he's done. He'll respect his commitments but as far as team building goes, he's out.

Jumbo meanwhile remain impoverished, with Amazon or some others sponsors plugging (pun totally intended eh) the gaps in their budget.

That's a bit taken out of context, innit? Don't know why he should be seen as responsible for all this drama. It's clear that it went over all their heads.

I don't take anything out of context. I don't see him as the main one responsible for this BS but I also don't believe he had nothing to do with this. Or at least not indirectly. His dad literally went over Lefeveres head complaining to Bakala himself. The point is that Remco and mainly his dad caused a lot of negativity surrounding SQS. Im pretty convinced that's one of the reasons why Bakala en also Soudal were on board with this stuff.

He's far from a bad guy imo (dont like his dad tho) but he also does not come off as the good guy here imo. The fact that he (or his dad) wants everything at QS resolving around him might've indirectly almost killed the whole team.

Pretty sure Plugge and the ones backing that team are the real bad guys tho.

The problem for both teams remains the same: Quickstep has an owner who wants out and a team without a clear direction. Jumbo are the most successful team but can't find a proper sponsor. The merger was an unholy idea from the start, but it wasn't born out of luxury.

But why? If you have the choice between no sponsor and this option, why would you not at least investigate it?

But waiting till (the end of) 2025 and stop the team is no option for Bakala (80 percent of the shares) and Lefevere (20 percent) is no option. They would end with nothing. So, probably, they will work at another construction, merge, sell(off) during 2024 and/or 2025 in order to sell the shares.

So now the mud is being thrown around to blame people for the merger not happening? Jeez ...
By the way, if you happen to know a cyclist who would like to be a pro, tell them to ring Ineos as they need 12 before October 16 (if I remember correctly).

not even Thomas in on the roster even though we know he'll stay. and Plapp is still there despite him leaving to Jayco.
Ineos will announce its riders soon, don't worry
