Who expects that? I don't. And I haven't seen many others saying that either. But I'm not on Twitter, which is maybe where the real cycling opinions are.
tbh, I didn't know much about Vauquelin except I've seen his name mentioned here this week, he's only 24 so should be improving on his past and briefly checked his record in PCS. So I just put 1+1 together that he must have solid credentials. Maybe I am wrong, no biggie. But he did have a strong TT.

Whenever he's been doing well in the past, he's been excellent on short punchy climbs and pretty much nowehere on climbs of any decent length. He's always had a good TT too, but yesterday's result is of course a whole new level for him. So I guess we can't rule out completely that he has suddenly learnt how to climb mountains too, but that would surprise me a lot more than his great TT.

Wow what a fantastic 1st week for Vauquelin in the Tour de France!
He's coming off an amazing Tour de Suisse performance, so it's nice to see he kept his form.

It would be massive for him if he managed to hold on to a top10 spot in GC, but it will be hard. He is class in the short climbs, but he suffers a lot in the high and long mountains.
