wow you are correct. most guess Betty Crocker or Fannie Farmer
NANCY GREEN: Perhaps best known under her marketing name was Aunt Jemima. She would instantly become a celebrity cooking pancakes in 1890 that would become international known from Billboards and advertising marketing. Perhaps American's first Celebrity Chef
Betty Crocker never existed. Washburn Crosby Company of Minneapolis, later became General Mills received so many recipe questions, they decided to reply using the retiring general managers name "William Crocker." In an office contest, a secretary picked the name Betty which management felt was warm and friendly. They allowed the secretary to sign the first reply letter and the signature has remain the same.
Fannie Farmer is legendary. Her book "The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book", in 1896 did change American Cooking. Although, she did not reach celebrity status until the turn of the century. Fannie's books still available today plus "the mother of level measurements." She founded Miss Farmer's School of Cookery in 1902 and lectured Harvard Medical School. She felt she would be remembered for her contribution in society towards eating healthy rather than her household recipes.
