Life is a sacred gift from God. He decided that we should be born and, when the time comes, He decides that we should pass on from this world. We should be grateful for whatever precious moments He gives us—and no one, not even the terminally ill, has the right to die until God is done toying with them.

It doesn’t matter how sick you are. You don’t get to die until God messes with you for a while first.

"Who are we to tamper with God’s plan? Who are we to say that our suffering has become too unbearable to go on living when God—who’s just looking for a little amusement—has weeks, months, or even years of agony lined up for us? Seriously, what kind of person ends his life before God’s batted him around a bit? He made us. He deserves a little fun.

Thing is, it’s not up to us when we’ve had enough sickness. We don’t get to choose when we’d rather not exist with Huntington’s disease or a brain tumor. Oh, sure, we might feel ready to die, but for all we know, God has literally decades of chronic pain, dramatic weight fluctuations, and debilitating fatigue in store for us, mixed in with some occasional good days and maybe even some false hope for recovery—it’s up to Him how long He’d like to be entertained by our helpless struggles. You see, God wants to take us on a ride—a wild, scary ride that He probably really enjoys watching from above—before finishing us off, and we have no right to slam the brakes."

Don't know who Amy Foster is (guess I could look up...just lazy) - That is a very sad view of God that she holds. Hopefully someone around her can show her what God is really like.

I wouldn't take anything too seriously that I read in the chaos thread. everything in this thread is an illusion or not an illusion. you will never know unless you open the box. Remember once you let chaos out of the box

here's a nice picture of a cat. it is not in a box. I don't know if it has ever been in a box or if it ever will be in a box. here is wishing it well in whichever it chooses.

I opened the book nearest to me and turned to page 45. The whole page is a scan of Karol Wojtyła's handwriting in a form of an outline and I can't decipher any of it much less find the first complete sentence. My life is an enigma.

For me the closest book is the Septuagint (Ancient Greek translation of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible dating from 2nd century B.C.), page 45; the first full sentence is Genesis 29:23:

"καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα, καὶ λαβὼν Λαβαν Λειαν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὴν πρὸς Ιακωβ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Ιακωβ."

Which in English translation is:
"And it became evening, and Laban taking Leia his dauhter brought her up to Jacob, and Jacob went up to her." (going up to her is a euphemism for sex)

Jacob didn't have a very good marriage though, so I think I should try to avoid my fate and live in celibacy. Thanks for the warning, krebs!
