My name is Jerry and I live in the United States (South Carolina).

I am considering moving to Mexico sometime in the next year and
possible teaching English as a Second Language.

I am still open to any area but prefer temperate climates vs. hot and humid.

I have not yet visited Mexico but am planning on doing so this spring.

I am currently working diligently on learning Spanish but would still
classify my Spanish as pretty basic.

Finally, I am looking forward to learning much more about Mexico and
about living in Mexico through this forum.

By Tony Barboza, Los Angeles Times

December 28, 2011
Gray whales cruise through Southern California waters every winter, but this month the migratory giants have shown up so early and in such numbers that they are astounding many longtime observers.

Whale spotters stationed at Point Vicente in Rancho Palos Verdes have logged a record 163 sightings so far this December, more than they have seen at this point in 28 years.

Although the gray whale-watching season doesn't typically start until the end of December, the unprecedented number of early arrivals is delighting tourists, boaters and divers as the animals travel south along the coast to Mexico.

Entire day disappears in Samoa

THERE is no today in Samoa.

The tiny nation will jump forward in time as it crossed westward over the international dateline to align itself with its main trading partners throughout the region.

At the stroke of midnight on December 29, the time in Samoa will leap forward to December 31 - New Year's Eve. For Samoa's 186,000 citizens, Friday, December 30, 2011, will simply cease to exist.
